I'll wait for the reviews but chances are I'll be sticking to Android again.

The fact that Apple claims that the new phone doesn't need any more than 1GB of RAM is completely and utterly BS. My iPhone 4 needed 1GB and the 512 it had wasn't even close to enough for me. There is no way 1GB is enough for this day and age. Maybe I'm an "advanced" user that Apple isn't targeting and doesn't care about people who do more then facebook and send text messages.

The camera barely even being upgraded is also BS. I know megapixels don't matter as much as some think but they could have improved the camera a lot more.

I'll read AT reviews and others before I decide for certain but I just doubt it will matter. If they had included the 13 Mp camera that was rumored and 2 GB of RAM I'd probably go back to Apple.

I'm on the 5S and will upgrade next year. Grabbed a 6 regular for my brother though. Waited until noon today and was able to still get 9/19/14 shipping date.

The camera got got some good upgrades. Not in terms on MPs, but new sensor, focus pixels, optical image stabilization, f2.2. Unfortunately the good stuff is only available on the plus.

Camera bumps past the back of the phone, so if you sit it on a surface, the phone will not sit flat. Strangely not something past Apple would do.

I wonder if they just assume that most people put them in cases anyway, so it doesn't matter? Although, if we go based upon that philosophy, then why care about most of the phones aesthetics? Make the darn thing out of plastic and give us cool (read: nerdy) things like wireless charging!

For the eleventy-billionth time: It's exactly something past Apple has done. They make another device that is also 6.9mm thin and- *gasp* it has a protruding lens also! Welcome to 2012.

The touch isn't the iPhone. Big difference between a flagship product and something aimed at teens.

Nonsense. There were no other 6.9mm iDevices before that. The phone wasn't the phone before it was the phone either.

"Big difference," you say? Ha! It's not just the thickness: The new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus are styled after the iPod touch 5G in every way. The oval side buttons, the rounded metallic back with no glass, the ring around the camera with flash, etc were done FIRST on the iPod touch 5G in 2012 even before they were adopted by the iPad mini. They're so similar I'm actually surprised the iPhone doesn't have the pop-up button for the wrist strap, but there was already a version of the iPod without that.

The 6.1mm iPod touch 5G camera is inferior to the 7.6mm iPhone 5S even though it protrudes, but anyone who thought that they could fit a camera equal or superior to the 5S camera in 6.9mm is crazy. Protruding was necessary. You'd have to be an idiot to complain unless your argument is that the entire phone should have been thicker. Is that really the design direction Jobs would have taken? Obviously not. Jobs would have gone with Jonny Ives’ input on that. Ives is still there and still in charge of design so I don't know what's left to complain about.

My email form AT&T says Sept 19th delivery. The order status page says October, but still "pending". I hope the email is correct (it does have some weasel words about first come first serve for shipments ..).

So I know this is a big deal to some people because I have seen it brought up as a negative numerous times but speaking for myself, I have no idea why the phone laying flat is important.

If anything, with the phone slightly raised off the desk, it would be easier to pick up and it would have a little extra airflow around it for heat dissipation while charging.

Hm.. do you mean it says this?

"We received your order and it is in process."

I hope I don't get screwed over by their wacky website. Although, I think I placed mine around 2:10 CST, so it's not like I was terribly late. As for credit card charges, since I went through Edge, I don't think I'll have any extra charges. I believe I'll just have about $80 or so added to my next bill.

For those who haven't ordered Costco.com is selling the iphone 6/6plus for $20 off. Only 64 gb model 6 is available at this time (for sprint anyways).

I received some shipping confirmations today from Verizon. One of them was for a 128GB Plus that was estimated to arrive on Oct 28. They shipped out today via next day shipping, but the tracking info at FedEx shows

Future delivery requested
with a delivery date of Friday.

Anyway, Verizon was apparently a bit off on some of their estimates, so some of you may be in for a nice treat.

Is it too late to pre-order iPhone 6 Verizon for guaranteed delivery Friday September 19th?

My options available are Apple Store, BestBuy, CostCo, Fry's and of course online stores.

By 'good stuff' you meant only Optical Image Stabilization right? That should be the only difference between the 2 cameras in the 6 and 6 Plus: https://www.apple.com/iphone/compare/

Managed to pre-order a 64GB 4.7", no idea on ETA though.

No change here, but that may be because I switched to Edge and they don't have to charge me as it's paid through my bill. I assume they want to make sure all contract-based upgrades pass billing?

Thanks for calling me an idiot, great way to discuss something. No need to get heated, its only a camera bump lol

Compromises are taken on lower end devices. A 2012 design needed the bump. I would have thought for the flagship iPhone, they would have figured out how to get the camera package a bit narrower before making the phone thinner, or if optics dictates they needed the distant to focus then that would be the terminal thickness for the phone. Personally, I have no problem with the thickness of the 5S. Its pretty obvious when setting something down and it is not stable then the design is called into question at a fundamental level. Its human nature to seek stability.

A case could surely fix it, but that's not how the phone comes from the factory. It is the tiny details that I noticed last time with the 5C (the case cuts off the iPhone logo, it looks like "non") that seemed out of place with Apple; they used to be asinine about the details, which I enjoy. That's why I'm very interested in anything that seems off about their products.

As I said above, humans seek stability. A table wobbles and we wedge something under it, so when something that is designed by humans is inherently unstable, it calls the design into question. Obviously a compromise was taken since no one would rather have a protuberance on their phone than have it perfectly flat. The edges are rounded to make it easy to pick up.

It isn't a big deal nor a deal breaker, its just interesting to see the compromise.

My ATT 64Gb 6+ date slipped:

Preorder Processing
Expected Ship Date: 10/31/2014 To 11/11/2014

I read an online anecdote that people with FAN discounts (Premier), which I have, experience longer delays.

My status is already shipped. Looks like I am getting mine on Friday for certain. Possibly sooner?

Also, popped fraud protection on my order and it failed to bill. I had got an email from Verizon Friday night about it and had to call and have them retry the card.
