What do storage size and color have to do with charging time?
Everything!

OK maybe not.

Interested to see your results though. I wish Apple would have just gone with USB C across the board with Macs/iPads/iPhones, but with the 7 now relying on Lightning headphones, I don't see it happening anytime soon.

Results so far...

I ran the phone completely dead and then started charging with the 29W USB-C charger and USB-C to Lightning cable.

Seems pretty slow.

Now I need to run it dead again and charge with the 12W iPad charger for comparison.

I wish I had thought to enable low power mode and airplane mode while charging to reduce other variables.

Tried a couple iPhone 7 Plus cases, so I'll compare them:

Speck Presidio Black (~$40 Best Buy)

- Hard plastic back with rubber lining inside, - rubber lip around the screen, rubber buttons, and small rubber bits on each corner

- Tactile feedback of buttons is absolutely excellent.

- Rubber bits on the corners don't really contact a flat surface, so the hard plastic is far too slippery on a table.

- Raised lip around the screen provides good protection

- A little bit thicker than the Incipio NGP.

- More difficult to remove than Incipio NGP.

Incipio NGP black (~$20 Amazon)

- TPU (err, "NGP") inside and out, with a tiny bit of hard plastic trim around the camera opening.

- Tactility of buttons is not bad, but inferior to the Speck. As with previous NGP/TPU cases, this could probably be improved dramatically by using a razor blade to cut small slits along either side of the buttons.

- Barely any lip around the screen, so there's not much protection when laying screen-down. It does make swipe gestures easier.

- Thinner than the Speck Prisidio.

- Easier to remove than Speck Prisidio.

- Openings at the bottom are a bit too open. I believe it's because they want it to have compatibility with 6 Plus and 6s Plus (need wider opening for headphones). The box specifically advertises compatibility with all "Plus" models.

I love the feel of both, but the thinner Incipio NGP feels slightly better. The Speck Presidio costs twice as much. I returned the Speck Prisidio to Best Buy and I am very happy to keep the Incipio NGP.

This is the 6th Incipio NGP case I've owned, so it's my go-to series.

- iPad mini
- revised version for iPad mini 2
- iPod touch 5th gen
- iPhone 5c
- iPhone 6 Plus (reused with 6s Plus)

I'm pretty pissed there's not a black NGP for iPod touch 6th gen and even the black 5th gen case doesn't seem to exist any more.

Thanks Ichinisan.

Just using the Kill-A-Watt is a lot less labour intensive though.

If you are just planning on testing usb devices, just get this guy for $2 http://www.ebay.com/itm/USB-Power-A...304963?hash=item4b025ea7c3:g:k1MAAOSwOVpXaSV2

works just as well as the much much more expensive testers I have.
Thanks, ordered. More convenient than the bulky Kill-A-Watt for stuff like this. And the up to 3A should work fine for the iPhone for regular USB. It wouldn't work with USB-C power though, at least for the iPad Pro. It's moot though considering the port.

I've taken a bunch of different portraits now, and this is pretty much what you should expect, unless they refine it before it gets out of beta:

Slight artifact at the edge of Mr. Pumpkinhead's head, but the crisp focus of his face is maintained with the background out of focus.

Friends and family all think this portrait mode is awesome, and I like it too, but I find the artifacts at those edges quite irritating at times. It depends on the subject and background, but sometimes it's very mild and thus the image is great, but sometimes it's quite obvious and the image becomes much less impressive to me.

OTOH, I'm very happy with the auto-exposure and the auto-white balance. As mentioned before, on average they're better than my dSLR, a mid-range model (higher end crop model).

And I really like the wide-gamut screen too. Now I'm pining for a wide-gamut iMac.

No surprise but the 3 GB iPhone 7 Plus can keep more applications in memory than the 2 GB iPhone 7. However, both are pretty decent overall.

This may not translate to Safari alone though, since another test done before suggest that if Safari is the only app loaded, tab reloads will begin at the same time with the 7 Plus vs. the 7. I suspect this is because iOS limits the amount of memory usage per app.

However, this could affect Safari still, if a whole bunch of apps are loaded in memory.

Does the phone also store an un-altered original, like it does with HDR shots?

10.1 beta 1 or 10.1 beta 2? Edge artifact is still there. Looks great on my phone (particularly the colours) but it would still be a bit annoying on my 27" iMac.

Got my jet black + last night. They weren't kidding about the scratching on the back, and the thing collects fingerprints like its a CSI agent.

No portrait mode on iPhone 7.

It's for the 7 Plus only.

Also, which beta? 10.1 beta 2 is already out for developers, and may be coming out very soon for the public.

10.2. Yeah, realized it's for plus only.

OK. BTW, I assume you mean 10.1 beta 2. There is no 10.2 available for developers yet.

Yeah. I'm reverting back to stock 10.0.2. No sense if I can't get the portrait mode to test.

FWIW, I found 10.1 beta 1 less buggy than 10.0.1, but yeah, the main reason I'm using that is for Portrait mode.

So far I am really not impressed with the ip7 camera. Colors are washed and look very over-processed. Will play with it in more detail when I am home.

Hm, I feel like I really need to use different chargers with the larger iPhones. I've never really noticed it, because I almost always charge my phone at home, but the default chargers are so slow. I use an Anker 5-port charger for my nightstand, and it charged my phone from about 10% to 40-50% in around 30 minutes. It also handles charging my Apple Watch, and that thing is nearly back up to full in no time.

I just use the iPad charging adapter, it charges faster. I don't know why Apple hasn't officially implemented quick charge, it's a very useful thing to have.

I been using a 12W iPad charger for over 1 year with my Plus phones. It definitely charges more quickly.

Comparing the 12W charger to the 29W USB-C MacBook charger with USB-C to Lightning cable, results are currently inconclusive. It might charge a *little* bit faster, but it's definitely not charging at 29W. I've read that the bigger-screen iPad Pro actually does take advantage of the 29W charger.
