iphone newb concerning jailbreaking my 3gs

I don't care if it's unlocked but for the life of me I can't figure out how to jailbreak this thing.

I've never cared for apple products, but my boss raved about his 3gs for so long when I upgraded my blackjack II a few weeks ago I caved and got this.

I've looked at various stuff I've found on google searches and nothing has worked yet.

I don't know what version it was when I got it as a few days later 4.0 was out so I upgraded to that. After cratering it today attempting a sn0wbreeze jailbreak today I'm now at 4.0.1. The model is MB715LL Modem Firmware 05.13.04

Several guides say to roll it back to version 3.1.2 but I have yet to successfully roll it back. iTunes errors out and won't allow it.

I'd pay to have this jailbroken if I knew of any reputable sites that would do it, but so far all of them seem to be shady and misleading after looking into them.

What are you running? PC/Mac? Carrier?

I don't think there's a jailbreak out for 4.0.1.

MOst people that charge are scams. There is no way to get 4.0 jailbroken. Dont update anymore without checking the dev team blog. Dont update itunes either.

Also legit sites will not charge for jailbrakes. Only follow the dev team and you will be safe.

MB 3GS cannot be jailbroken at the moment.

Try downgrading to 3.1.2 and you should be able to jailbreak it with one click via Blackra1n.

You can't downgrade to 3.1.2 or 3.1.3 unless you had SHSH's on file before going to 4.0.1. Just wait for a little bit and the new jailbreak will be out.

make sure you have 4.0 or 4.0.1 shsh's

jb wont support 4.1

so if your phone is still on order you are riding a thin line of time.
