I'd like to start developing games for the iPhone. Can anyone recommend some effective tutorial websites or books that I can use to get started? I am particularly interested in a tutorial that explains how to make a tetris clone on the iphone as a starting point.

I'd like to do the same thing. The apple dev center has a ton of sample code and video tutorials. C code will run on the iphone, so I'm trying to find some games in C and modify them for the iphone.

Do you still have to develop the applications using Mac OSX? That's the one reason I haven't attempted any iPhone apps yet

You can scp the files to the iphone then ssh to it and compile your apps on the phone itself. It involves copying some files and installing a few programs the first time. There is also a way to install the toolchain in linux, but letting the iphone do it was the easiest for me.

However, to put something on the app store it has to be digitally signed by an apple app for mac. I'm sure there is a way around it though.

Heh, well I don't have iPhone and I don't plan on buying one, but I'll look around for tips on getting them to work in Linux Thx for the info!

As far as I know, the SDK is for Mac only at this time. I built myself an intel mac for this purpose. In any case, I'm just trying to get started. I've been looking over the stuff in the SDK and sample code but I'd rather have a tutorial to guide me along. This site is pretty good:

http://icodeblog.com/

But it doesn't have much in the way of games.
