Iphone - Save Photos on iCloud only

Hello,

Is there any option so my photos are automatically deleted from my phone once they are updated on the iCloud? My phone is 16GB Only, and I'm bored of backing up to free space every other week...

Why not use Google Photos? You get unlimited photo backup with some slight downgrade in quality, but it's unlimited unlike iCloud storage. And Google Photos has a setting to automatically clear space on your phone. It checks if the photo is backed up to your account then it removes it from your phone.

If OP has Prime, that is also a good option. Not sure if it does auto-delete though.

I also use Amazon's Prime Photos in addition to Google Photos. I do not see any option to remove locally stored photos in the app (on iOS anyway).

Yeah, this is something Apple needs to address with iCloud. If I'm backing up photos to iCloud, give me the option to purge at least some of the older shots from my devices.

At least Apple is moving toward higher baseline phone capacities. Let's just hope we don't get stuck at 32GB for the next 5 years (probably won't, because storage demands are accelerating).

Local storage doesn't really solve the problem though, it just delays it becoming a bigger problem. I'd love terabytes of storage on my phone, but sooner or later your pictures and videos still need to be backed up so you don't risk losing them if your phone has issues or breaks (never mind storage space running out).

I'm honestly surprised Apple has not yet matched Google at the very least with unlimited photo backup of some kind. I've had to go through each iPhone toting family member's phone and put Google Photos on there because all of them have run into storage space issues specifically because of photos and videos.

On Android either. At least in that case it matters less because all my photos get saved to the SD card.

Why not just turn on 'optimise iPhone storage'?

Aren't people in this forum supposed to be knowledgable about these things?!
