I hear that its battery life is excellent. Other than the size of screen which is a decision consumers can competently make, the battery life was the only question mark due to its small size. With that now answered, this is a very compelling offer from Apple. Even though the bezels are thick, the phone will work comfortably with one hand for majority of people. Appearance-wise, the 5 has a such a unique and timeless design which I prefer to the 6's rather mundane (ugly, IMO) design.

For once I have nothing bad to say about a new Apple product.

It is. My girlfriend is notorious for quickly draining batteries on phones through heavy use (she could exhaust her iPhone 5s in four hours or less), and the iPhone SE is lasting an hour or two longer than the outgoing device. If she's happy with the battery life, it'll be paradise for those of us with more modest demands.

Yeah, my wife has been very happy with her SE as well. Getting 2+ more hours out of it vs her 5s. And that's even with more onscreen time monkeying around with settings than she normally would.

screen is terrible.....my Goodness

Isn't it the same screen the 5s always had?

Honestly after seeing one I am impressed. Very fast for the money, easily the highest value iPhone ever. This is going to slay middle range Android devices, maybe soon we will see more small phones

Picked up a 64gb one on launch day. Loving the phone so far. Sold my 6 64gb a couple days after I picked this one up so been solo on it for my personal phone.

Feels great to be back on the smaller device. Lighter in my pocket and takes up way less space. Feels more sturdy being a smaller more compact device. Battery life is phenomenal. Much improved over my 6 and better than my work 6s.

Speaking of my work 6s that I can compare it directly to. Since I only use that one for calls and email
It doesn't get used all day every day. It feels massive compared to the SE. I was used to that size after almost two years but in a matter of days it feels way too big.

I'd still stand by my comments last year that a 4.3" device with slightly better bezels would be the perfect device size for me. I do really like the size of this one though and foresee using it for at least a couple years to come. The proc being the same as the 6s is awesome and makes a huge difference.

Yeah, it's all Apple's fault again that Android OEMs has no brand loyalty because they sold their souls to the do-no-evil Google. It's also Apple's fault they correctly surmised right from the beginning that ecosystem lock-in is a far powerful tool to sustain loyalty than Android OEMs throwing ever more hardware at a fundamental software deficiency they have no control of while their profits simply vaporized once the phase of good enough hardware hitted in 2013.

The mental gymnastics used to blame Apple is amazing.

Please Android's problems are Google's fault as well as the manufacturer's who place laggy skins on the OS, among other things.

It's Apple's fault that they make it necessary for people to be at least marginally aware so they get the better products from Apple.

for example. I'd always wait for the second release of a new iteration of iPhone if that's what I used. (the 6s instead of the 6, and when the 7 is released I'd wait for the 7s)

Nice attempt to twist valid criticisms into an us vs. them fan-war though

blankslate, thanks for joining me in reality unlike StrangerGuy who blew my comment out of proportion. I would say it is because apple fans are being attacked in this thread that StrangerGuy wrote his reply the way he did but that is not the case for the vast majority of comments here. I usually stop reading threads that get into a turf war and this one is still has valid points without getting ugly so thanks people.

StrangerGuy, maybe the real issue is that Andriod OEM's = Verizon, ATT, T-Mobile & Sprint who put bloatware on their phones and don't do timely upgrades. Samsung unlocked and Nexus phones are great. People are buying Verizon phones with andriod on it. Whereas an Apple owner buys an Apple phone thru a carrier. I have not seen any bloatware on iphones no matter the carrier who sold it.

I am trying to understand the need for one handed operation. I get there are times when you need to use your phone one handed but i always prefer holding my phone in one hand and using my other hand for the touchscreen no matter what size the screen is. Perhaps i am in the minority here. Is it preference or is i use it one handed when feeding a baby or while driving, what are the reasons?

I don't get it either. One handed is for browsing/reading only. If I actively interact, I use two hands.

Of course, my very first touch screen phone was the Dell Streak, so I never knew any other way to do stuff.

My wife is on her feet about 10 hours a day and does about 20,000 steps tromping around a half dozen floors of a hospital. Most of the time she has a tablet or a chart in one hand and her phone texting/calling a resident or a doctor in the other about med orders. She doesn't have a free hand to jockey a giant phone. There's A LOT of people just like her roaming around the hospital.

thank you, that makes perfect sense. Myself being a desk jockey I could not picture much need for one handed operation.

Yeah, same for me. My phone sits on my desk most of the day. Most of my friends/acquaintances are clinicians of shape or form and nearly all of them are on their feet and bouncing between rooms/floors all day. Most of them appreciate the pocket-ability of smaller phones in scrubs/lab jackets and the ease of using them on the go.

how one can't understand that someone may need to use a phone one handed is beyond me. you all have never been carrying something in one hand and had an urge/need to check your phone?

I think it is more the need/want to actually use the phone one handed as opposed to just checking something. I check notifications one handed all the time with my Nexus 6 and that isn't really a problem. I would never be able to text one handed with that phone however, at least not more than a basic reply.

I am seriously considering the iPhone SE for my daughter. Looks like the perfect phone for that purpose. Perhaps enough people will be trading in their 6's to make the used price drop though. That would be fine as well.

Like others I see this 6SE as a way to get 5c users who didn't want to upsize their display to purchase a new iPhone. the 64 GB model seems like a good deal for them.

I wouldn't be surprised if more 5c phones show up on the used phone market

Not just the 5c -- it's for anyone who has a 5s or earlier and just doesn't want a larger screen.

Went to get one and was told the model I wanted was sold out. He mentioned the BOGO S7 Edge special. Wait the latest flagship android phone's BOGO and still in stock, but this small screen iPhone that doesn't have a special going is sold out?

Oh well

Before jumping to conclusions you don't know how many iPhones apple has produced and waiting to be sold.

Oh well

Sold out in Singapore, China and mostly in the U.S.

Of course, Apple must be only be producing just 5 of those after selling 30M 5Ss last year right?

I'm sure it's nowhere near as many as the 6s, but it's surely more than any other phone out right now minus the S7 and Edge. Both of which Sprint has boatloads of, even with a BOGO deal. I'd imagine the SE demand's higher than Apple expected. Bottom line I wanted one and couldn't get it, I don't know a reason why though.

4.7" could have been made easy for one handed use if Apple wasn't so lazy and got rid of the huge bezels.

http://www.phonearena.com/phones/si...s,Apple-iPhone-SE/phones/9818,9502,9501,10001

Samsung can make S7 Edge 5.3mm narrower than iPhone 6s Plus, both with 5.5" screen.
Think about it, they have technology to make phone with same screen size 5.3mm narrower than Apple. So far they only applied it to 5.5" screen, but if applied to 4.7" screen, that would make for a phone that's only 2mm wider than the SE with 38% more screen area.

Also you need to consider that apple IS running a special. Its called the price.its a very affordable capable phone. Samsung is running a bogo but that doesn't mean you aren't paying for it. The cost is still there. Obviously a bit of marketing trickery unless you need another line.
But if apple is selling more than expected then good for them, and if they purposely have kept supply low to appear that this phone is selling like hotcakes then that's smart of them.
