I'm guessing they will just sell out of the remaining stock at the stores and not replenish.

Very curious to see what the new phone has and whether or not its worth an upgrade for me. 8gb space is fine for me (though I wouldn't mind a higher capacity one) and 3g is useless for me until next year. Integrated GPS might make me switch, I found it VERY handy to have GPS with me in europe last year while walking around (Nokia E61 w/ Bluetooth GPS).

Nevertheless, i'm anxious to see what they have changed. June 9th, here we come!

Somebody should make a trip down to the Apple store or AT&T and see if any of them has been put on discount

If they offer a 32GB model with 3G, I'd might be really tempted to import one and unlock it. It'd be really hard to resist if such a model with were to be available at $500, specially if it sports better battery life and GPS as well.

This is definitely a sign that something is going on. While this is not resulting in massive losses for Apple, they are certainly loosing a significant number of sales. The part that puzzles me is if they are in fact releasing the next version so soon, how they kept it from leaking during FCC approval. While 3G and GPS are important, I hope they just make the whole package more practical like a blackberry is...at this point I still view the iphone as more of a gimmick/toy that has not yet had it's full potential realized.

Apple has been able to keep some of its FCC and Patent filings secretive before, I recall reading an article about it a little while back.

By practical do you simply mean the keyboard?

I love my iPhone, it would kick ass to have 3G speed. When on WiFi, it's an amazing device, using edge is painful.

I don't know how anyone could say that this device isn't practical? It's absolutely phenomenal! I cannot imagine not having this device anymore. Just simply stunning!

oh and on a note that is more relevant to this topic, I think that this is all intentional to build PR for the new version. What better way than to limit stock and make people want one even more. Then they'll have the big unvailing in June.

eh, I am really liking the touch keyboard less and less as I use my enV2 more and more. I sit and play with my friend's ipod touch when I'm over at their place because I want a little internet web enabled device to have around the house.

The physical keyboard is just something I can't give up. And w/o flash support, the web is almost useless

Now this I have to disagree with, I've been using the web on my iPhone for nearly a year now and even without flash, its FAR from useless.

heh, I should probably put that more in context... useless for me.. because the purpose of said device for me is goofing off I've notice that the last 3 1-2hr sessions I played with it, I never failed to end up at a video w/in 5-10 minutes, heh.
