so uh, has iPhone7 prices dropped like a rock anywhere?
I'm sure the price drops will help.

Sounds like a well-known issue, but hopefully your battery swap will resolve it:I've been thinking of getting the iFixit Battery replacement kit (or generic one off ebay for like $10) for my phone but I am not sure if there is other stuff going on with it since it appears to be reporting the wrong battery charge too. Sometimes it will drop from like 40% to 1% instantly. I'll see the 20% warning then 10% warning as soon as I click OK on the first one. Then it's at 1%. But then it stays at 1% for a while too.
Other times it's at 100% and just cuts off and I can't turn it back on until I plug it into a charger, and then it turns on and is at 100% and will be fine for a bit.
Battery installation for the 6 seems pretty damn intense though. A lot of little stuff that could break. I have changed one on an iPhone 5 and it was very easy and the steps for 6 look more involved for sure.
Hmmmm I wonder if I should take it to an Apple store and just see if they will replace it for me for free since it appears to be a big issue...Sounds like a well-known issue, but hopefully your battery swap will resolve it:

IIRC even after more than 1 software update, many users continued to have battery woes. Apple even recalled a small number of 6S units.
Yes, they did claim this, but IMO this may still be considered a little bit of a fail. Why should FID be trying to authenticate when it shouldn't be? This is not an issue with Touch ID unless your toddler is playing with your phone or something. Furthermore, Face ID only allows 2 attempts. For what it's worth, Apple is claiming that FaceID didn't actually fail onstage, it was locked out because other people had been handling the phone and didn't realize FID was trying to authenticate Craig Federighi's face.
Hopefully we'll get some verification on this, but it does seem plausible since it worked well once Craig unlocked with the passcode.

In fact, one guy I know buys a new top end iPhone every year because he finds he can sell the old iPhone for such good coin, he's only out a few hundred bucks every year. Here in Canada this works out to maybe US$35 per month... which incidentally is roughly what the Apple upgrade program costs in the US. Apple is charging $34.50 for the 64 GB iPhone 8 per month, and $39.50 per month for the 64 GB 8 Plus. It's $49.91 for the 64 GB iPhone X. That would mean $414, $474, or $599 per year to "rent" a brand new iPhone.
Why only 256GB max? Iphone X should be offered with 512GB.
Also, who wants to be the first to perform the bend test on this sucker?
Do you really put that much crap on your phone? It's mainly because mostly everything is going cloud/stream based.
Note that with iOS 11 4K HEVC video, you should expect to save about 30-40% space over iOS 10 4K h.264. The 40% may be a bit optimistic, but it should be over 30%.Shoot a ton of photos or 4k video and you eat up the space. Not always practical to upload that to the cloud, especially if you are in a remote location.
I dunno I got a goPro for xmas 2 years ago and I put a 128gb card in it and it's still not full. I have stuff on it from when I first got it, and I take a lot of pictures and videos when I go on vacation. I am torn if I want to get the 64gb phone or 256 but I'm probably gonna get 256 because as someone else said, it's $150 more so why not. If they had a 512 version I personally wouldn't go that route. My current phone is 64gb and I've never had storage issues.Shoot a ton of photos or 4k video and you eat up the space. Not always practical to upload that to the cloud, especially if you are in a remote location.

I just preordered my wife an iPhone 6 Plus 265gb in Gold. What a clusterfuck though. There was a javascript error on Chrome (and still is) on the plus page, but it worked fine in Safari. This was through Verizon's website.
It's not going to be anywhere close to 200 Mbps. For example, 8-bit 4K 30 Hz on the iPhone 7 Plus using the default camera, it's usually below around 50 Mbps with h.264, so you'd expect it to be closer to about 30-35 Mbps with 8-bit HEVC.4K60 will take a lot of space. Unless it's just for marketing and it's the same bitrate as 30fps. Which in that case it may look smoother it will be full of compression artifacts. To really see what 4K60 is all about it should be pushing 200Mbit/s plus. Filmic Pro on my 7+ pushes close to 100Mbps at 4K 24fps and it looks stellar but the A10 is a bit pokey for ultra smooth recording and it can judder at times. The A11 will take care of this but at 60FPS (again) it may be pushed to its limits. Can't wait until the 3rd when I have the space grey 256 in my hands!
Well no that may be Filmic extreme mode.
120fps 1080 is also nice.
Too bad the display isn't 120Hz.
Yet.
That will be the iPhone XS.
The note 8 won't work either. For T-mobile users, the new iphones cant utilize their new LTE network:
http://www.businessinsider.com/ipho...mobile-lte-network-that-cost-8-billion-2017-9
Apple's new iPhone 8 and iPhone X won't support the extended LTE network that T-Mobile spent $8 billion on acquiring from the FCC earlier this year.
Both of Apple's new iPhones lack support for the LTE band needed to access T-Mobile's forthcoming 600MHz network, which provides better coverage in buildings and rural areas throughout the US.
Apple's tech specs for both the iPhone 8 and iPhone X don't show support for the Band 71 needed to access the network, and a T-Mobile representative confirmed Friday in a tweet that the 600MHz spectrum won't be supported by the new phones.
