TouchID works on my 6 most of the time, but it's a bit slow. I've heard they sped it up quite a bit in newer versions and I'd really like to upgrade but can't justify the cost so the battery in my 6 will probably get replaced. Next year they may have OLED in the cheaper version if it's not discontinued altogether.
Unfortunately, for the X, I can think of many scenarios where faceID would just not be user friendly.
Looks like the iPad got jealous of the X's price tag:
Apple Raises Price on All 256GB and 512GB iPad Pro Models by $50.
Also isn't the 8 now $50 more as well compared to what the normal price is? $700 vs $650.
This video made me feel better about the notch and full screen videos. Check it out around 2:20 or so.
It basically does exactly what the current iPhone does. It either will fill out the full screen real estate, or it will scale to fit the actual aspect ratio and it includes the notch so it doesn't go behind it. That was pretty much my only concern and now that I see how it works I'll probably end up getting one.
My only concern is my 6 battery is pretty f'd up right now and I don't know if I can deal with it until November.
I've had that same battery problem on at least 2 other iPhones (iPhone 5 & 6), seems to be a long standing problem with iPhones.
Haven't had the issue on my 7 yet but it's not even a year old... hoping to keep it another 2 years or more so we'll see.
The iPhone 4 design was my favourite iPhone design of all time.NAND flash supply is tight, as is LPDDR4 DRAM :-(
I'm not interested in the iPhone 8 or the X. My 6S is working fine. I'm curious to see how the double glass (front/back) works out in the real world. Maybe next year - though I'm not a high app count user and take a fraction of the photos my wife does.
Err, you may not be able to do it on a plastic phone, but with it being plastic, you don't need a protector on the back to begin with. The iPhone 4 design was my favourite iPhone design of all time.
One bonus is if you wanted to go caseless, you could actually put a glass protector the back. You can't do that on plastic and aluminum phones. Well, you can, but it looks horrible. You need a case if you want to keep the back of a plastic or aluminum phone scratch free. That said, I used a case with the 4 usually too, because it helped protect the sides and edges.
Yes you do, because otherwise they get all scratched to shit and look horrible.Err, you may not be able to do it on a plastic phone, but with it being plastic, you don't need a protector on the back to begin with.
Depends on the owner. I never put my phone in a case whether it's made of plastic, glass, metal, etc. But I know plastic phones are much more resistant to scratches and other wear and tear.Yes you do, because otherwise they get all scratched to shit and look horrible.
Is anybody else concerned with how apple went with the glass back design again? I remember that being a big issue with the iPhone 4. I know they're claiming this glass is tougher, but I still doubt it will hold up to a drop on a hard surface.

My plastic phones have been the worst. But at least if it's white plastic, it's harder to see the scratches.Depends on the owner. I never put my phone in a case whether it's made of plastic, glass, metal, etc. But I know plastic phones are much more resistant to scratches and other wear and tear.

You will be waiting a long time before it drops like a rock.so uh, has iPhone7 prices dropped like a rock anywhere?
It will drop, but not like a rock. In my experience, iPhones tend to hold value reasonably well for the first couple of years. Yes, they drop more during new launch periods. However, even during the times of new iPhone releases, the outgoing previous top tier still sells for decent coin up until a couple of weeks after the new model hits the streets, gradually dropping commensurate to the online store price drop over that time.so uh, has iPhone7 prices dropped like a rock anywhere?
