ipod car accessory/hookup

hey guys,
i was thinking about buying one of those IPOD -> FM or IPOD -> Cassette adapters for cars as a christmas gift. A year or two ago, I bought for myself one of those 20$ car -> cassetee adapters but it was awful. Lots of background noise and stuff.

Do you guys know if there are any "good" adapters out there?

I saw a bunch at Circuit City the other day. They had one that was a Cassette adapter, then there is another one that will plug right in to the head set from the iPod but the deck has to have the AV hook up.

I've only tried the casette adapter, but I'm sure FM would give you better sound.

I use the FM one by Monster and it works great. I would ahve used the casette adapter, but I dont have a casette deck in my car.

I wish I had the links for you, but if you're wiling to take out your stereo to plug something in (you of course put it back in afterwards) you can get an adapter that will directly feed the ipod into the speakers. Benefits include power for the ipod, volume control and next/previous track from your dashboard controls!

I bought the Griffin FM adapter but had too much disturbance on it. I tried different frequencies but it did not help...
... It might have been a bad piece, or maybe there is too much disturbance in my car...

I later just got a AUX in cable and connected my IPOD directly to the car deck...

I would get a blitzsafe ipod adapter. My dad just installed one into his VW for $75 I think. Crystal clear sound quality and it keeps the ipod charged.

As an alternative, consider a new BMW - they are iPod ready.

I just go an iPod and was wondering the best way to hook it up to my car. I've been looking at this head unit. It says its iPod ready and comes with the iPlug does anyone know if i'll need anything else??

The best way to connect your iPod to your car stereo is to hook it up to an iPod-compatible deck. You will get amazing sound quality and you will be able to control your iPod with your deck controls. That said, a cassete tape adapter (e.g. Griffin SmatDeck) offers excellent sound quality at an almost insignificant price. If you buy the SmartDeck, you can also exercise some control over your iPod from your existing deck controls. FM transmitters are a ripoff IMO. They are too expensive and provide awful sound quality, even compared to a cassete tape. I've used all three methods, so I speak from experience.

This is what i've decided to go with. Sony It has an AUX in right on the front so all I have to do is by a earphone size cable for both ends and plug it in when needed.
