IPod Classic Is Dying?

Sorry if this isn't the right forum it seemed liked the best fit but if I am wrong, correct me. I Ended up swapping some files onto my IPod, then after ejecting the ipod and turning it on, my ipod just turns on, loads the menu, does a load click off and then repeats, I have no way to stop it. I can't find and trouble shooting and assume I am just screwed

The click is the sound of the HDD's head parking itself. Soundsl ike your drive may be dieing. If thats the case there isn't much you can do about. There are places that will repair/replace the drive but you'd be better of buying a new iPod.

Personally i'd rather spend a few more $ and get the new iPod rather then replacing the drive.

If it's within a year or less there's probably a warranty, check how old it is. Otherwise just get yourself a new one .

iPod classic is the first generation. Those haven't been under warranty for a couple of years or more.

Ipod classics are the most recent "normal" ipod out. Depending on exactly when you bought it it should still be under warranty.

The iPod "Classic" is the current gen....it's the more improved version of the 5th gen with video. My grandpa's (yes he has one, though it's a 5th gen) was doing the same thing.....and still does occasionally. They've been about for around 2 years, so if you bought it less than a year ago, then you can get it replaced fairly hassle-free. If you bought it sooner than that, it will live for a while longer....and the problem may resolve itself (because of it moving when in your pocket or something). His has been fine while doing that for about 6 months, so I kind of have proof. Mine is a classic, and has yet to do that, so your situation is slightly unique in that sense, though there isn't much difference between the generation but drive size and software (small difference).

HOWEVER: If you are seeing that it is freezing/hanging before getting to a song, then it may be close to death. If that's happening, seek the warranty out NOW.
