Ditto that. I checked the San Bruno store (close to San Francisco, but not the SF store) and they didn't even HAVE a clearance counter.

I grew up in San Diego. I used to think that driving from Clairemont to La Mesa was a long way. Now that I live in the Bay Area, driving Clairemont to La Mesa is just going around the corner.

So i just got back from the one off of Mich ave. It was right before close. I bought a 5 gig for 150 and there was once left. As I was walking out a guy in a black leather jacket was waiting for the salesperson who was helping me. Yes the manager said they would sell no more but he did not pass that on the sales clerk so I and the guy behind me got them.


Sorry folks no new iPods at MacWorld tomorrow and the only returned ones left at that store are $300. The Apple rep took all the returned iPods from this holiday, inspected them and re-shrinkedwrapped them.. then they were all returned to that one store for sale because of the high voumes of sales. So maybe its the same for other ciites.

They are in decent condition, nmot brand new though. Mine came in a box with everything, software, charger, ear buds and manual. The 2 year warranty might be useful, especially on the used product...

I got one of the 5gb ones in the downtown Chicago store for $99. When I got there (around 4:45), they had a locked cage next to the PDA's, with a few digital cameras and about 15-20 iPods. Most of them were 10 gb ones for $249. The one I got is an old one, with the scroll wheel that moves instead of the newer optical wheel. It came with earphones (though no remote), the ipod, and the recharger. No manual, no case... and it's pretty dirty and scratched up.

Anyway, just about 10 seconds after I got mine out of the cage, some employees wheeled it into the back room. When I asked them why, they gave me some strange reason about a meeting in the back. I bet it would be worth a trip there around opening to see if they have any more hidden away. The woman that helped me was named Roschone Lewis - she was really nice and helpful. Maybe see if you can track her down (I think she works at the PDA counter).

They also had a Sony Clie NR70 for $99, but it was totally free standing without anything else. Would have snatched it in a second if I didn't already have so much invested into my iPaq.

Yeah they took us in the back room. It was a two tier cage, iPods were 2 deep X 2 high, and they let us look through it. Most were the 299 deals and as I said me and the guy behind me got the 149 ones left. I saw the Clie because I thought it was an iPod, it was just wrapped in the white mark-down sheet so you couldn't tell what was in it at first. I am sure they will wheel out what's left tomorrow but all the good $100 sub deals were gone way before people got out of work at 5pm.

So I guess I use the first 1.20 - to reformat the HD in FAT32/firmware. I can then upgrade the firmware to 1.21.

Have any of you tried the reformatting yet?

I downloaded the 1.21 software from Apple, and then the Music Match for iPod. MusicMatch asked me for a serial number, but I cancelled and it seems to be working fine (guess we'll see what happens in 30 days ). Anyway, I can see the ipod as a disk drive, but when I tried copying mp3's straight to it, the ipod player didn't see them. Is there a way to get music onto it without using musicmatch? I'd prefer a better drag-and-drop interface if possible.

Are CompUSA extended warranty plans returnable?? So lets say they charged me for a service plan can I go in the next day and return just the plan?

i got a pretty nice mp3 cd player and headphone, 3dfx voodoo3 33500 video card in original box with all stuff included (tv tuner fm tuner svid in out vid in out and aud in out ) 128mb of pc133 kinston ram and robotech battlecry for xbox sealed and i will trade for one, or maybe some more stuff i unno but those ipods are sexy
