Not usually. Always. You have not chance of this working. The serial # is printed on all receipts and they will not do a return it if the serial numbers don't match.

They didn't record the serial number on my ext warr. They said that my receipt has just two items on it, an ipod and a warantee, so it's ok that without the s/n. Should I be concerned?

If anyone has a problem with their ipod, why not buy a new one at a store with a no restocking fee/100% money back refund policy and return the broken one? Not ethical, but it gets the job done.

Actually, why not come into the store with a booster box and pop a few iPods into the box, then walk out. Lots of free iPods that way and you can eBay the broken ones for more money.

Not ethical, but gets the job done better.

Or why not just break into CompUSA at night and take anything you want? Not ethical, but REALLY gets the job done.

Depends on the store. My reciept doesn't have the serial number listed. One store denied me new ear-buds, another gave them to me with a smile and open arms...

the ipod itself was sealed in plastic and never used
if anyone still looking for one ask for kevin.

Customer oriented retailers should NEVER say anything like that to a customer. Why should a customer give a flying rats a$$ about their margins?
