Apple has always had 10% for students. In fact its mentioned many times within anandtechs reviews like the one for 'a month with an apple'.

first, it's highly unethical to say you're a student to get a discount. Do you still carry your college id around to get cheaper movie prices?
second, i think it's been discussed here, and someone tried to do what you said but failed. I can't find a thread correlating, but i remember someone attempting it, then failing.
