spending 300+ to play videogames is a lot better eh? its all silly. what matters is if u use it. and its also penny wise pound foolish. u buy something with ease of use just so u will not give up using it in fustration. those cheesy flash players u gotta keep shuffling songs on an off of? people toss em aside..too much work. save a few bucks, waste it all basically.

On the "I don't need/want extra features, sound quality, or battery life" argument - that's fine, not everyone needs the extra features some other players have - but why not save $100+ and buy another player without them? Certainly not everything popular is bad, and I doubt anyone here dislikes iPods because of their popularity. Simply put, money only goes so far. Most DAP manufacturers put it into quality construction, features, and innovation. Apple just pays U2 and pockets the rest. And, true to form, the vast majority of consumers are swayed more by advertising than by logic.

Plus you never know when you'll come to want/need a feature. Things change. You may have a few bucks to spare, for instance, and pick up some good headphones - at which time you'll realize the iPod's limited sound quality. You may at that point also realize how much better .ogg really does sound than .mp3. You may get sick of charging it every day. Etcetera...

Another worthless stab at Apple :roll: Yes Apple pays U2, but Apple also sells the U2 iPod for more money. If you don't want Apple or U2 to pocket the extra $$, don't buy the U2 iPod!

I don't know why I bother. The sales prove that Apple has a quality product.

Typical illogic from a typical iPod end user (I'd say buyer, but the typical iPod buyer is the end user's parents). Sales, especially in the tech sector, don't indicate quality. By your logic, Apple makes terrible computers and AOL is a good ISP. Look sport, we already know you're 12 and ride the short bus. You don't have to continue proving it with every post you make.

My U2 logic makes perfect sense.

I didn't say you had one, I said you're the type - young & dumb enough to want whatever you see commercials for on the boob tube and to not take price into consideration, since you're not the one who'd be paying. I'm guessing payments on the trailer take precedence over a DAP for you, kudos to your parents for keeping their priorities straight on that, at least. Apple has nowhere near the sales volume of PC & PC part manufacturers, not sure where you're coming from with that one. Your personal attacks never cease; mine are in response, as my goal is to communicate and those of your age & intelligence level rarely understand calm logic and a nonoffensive manner. You've proven time and time again to be a prime example.

clearly "low sound quality" is a subjective comment. It may not have sound quality that is rated as high as some other mp3 players, but to say that the quality is actually "low" is quite subjective.

Edit: Yes, calling someone a fool is obviously a personal attack. Again, you proved nothing other than what I've mentioned in that thread; "look & feel" != sound quality, and what's a "nice" ui for some isn't for others.
