Does this work any better that the Belkin Tunecaster II? The Tunecaster seems to suffer from needing a really clear channel to avoid annoying buzzing on high notes. Kinda tough to find, and tougher to keep, when driving in urban areas.

OK for that road trip to Tierra del Fuega, though.

My brother has this and it is nice. Mind you, the FM transmitter has limitations. You aren't going to get the full quality. However, it is very nice if you can live with FM quality, and the car charger is a bonus.

The Belkin tunecaster uses batteries if I am not mistaken. This unit is a lot better because not only does it do the FM transmitting, but it also charges the Ipod. The Tunecast is decent, but this does more.

Ya know, the real question is this: Is there a way to hack into the bus on a factroy installed car sound system and put in a simple stereo jack?

I used to have a '92 Diamante and it had such a jack built in. I was OK with a Discman, but it would be awesome with my Dell DJ!

Unfortunately, I believe the car in now ferric oxide.

I paid $60 for my iCar Monster FM thingy....wish I heard of this deal before.

As far as FM Transmitter goes, I heard they eat up your batteries like crazy, so a car charger would be necessary. Also some radio frequencies tend to be overpowered by radio station frequency, so it would be recommended to buy a FM transmitter where you can actually change which frequency its on.

I don't understand y they dont make a stereo input available on car stereo... would have made everyone's life easier.

I guess they are doing it this way to make sure consumers will have to keep upgrading their car stereo for new media, but imagine how well a stereo will sell if it has an input jack. I know i'd go buy one.

There are ways to add RCA/AUX inputs into a radio depending on the headunit if you buy the adapter. Link

You can do it yourself with some skills and some tools or have a local shop (CC/BB/Fry's/Mom&Pop) do it for you.

thx for the link

anyhoo, got this thing yesterday.
I already have the FM trasmitter by monster. That one was way more expensive and only have a preset number of channels. However, the monster one produces much better sound quality.

This macally unit is also a lil chunky.

on the good side, u can select any channel with this unit and it uses AUX input so you can use it with any portable device you have.

Thanks for the comparisons. I'll wait for a better deal on the iTrip.

Does the iTrip Mini work on the Ipod 20GB 4Gen?

I was disapointed in my iTrip. Pretty poor quality and I would have to change the station depending on the time of day and location in town. It has a pretty empty sound to it. I just got one of those tapes that goes in the tape deck and plug in my iPod and it sounds great, just a bit messy with the wire, but in my car its easy to hide.
