Ipod in car (no fm)

I've got a Kenwood head unit, and I just ordered the kenwood ipod adapter. i have high hopes, but haven't actually used it yet.

i have a tape thing for the ipod...but only 1 car has a tape deck .

radio shack sells the monster FM transmitter that allows you to tune the transmitter to any station.

My girly got the one from best buy where there are ?8? preset stations, and it works pretty good. There are problems when her cell phone rings, but aside from that it's great. I'd assume the radio shack one will work even better because we would be able to choose a frequency that's just got static.

Does your deck have a rear input, for something like a cd-changer. The sony xplod i dropped in my car (to replace the original tape deck) has a rear input.

If it does have one, just run a cable from the rear of the deck around the front, so you can plug it into your ipod. Otherwise, i think you would have to go with an FM transmitter.

I have an alpine head unit and the alpine ipod adapter and the sound quality is great. It is pretty handy to be able to control the ipod and be able to see the song/album/artist with the head unit. The biggest problem I have with this setup is that cycling through the artists/albums/songs is pretty slow, it can take a couple minutes to get to some artists in the middle of my list. From what I've read the problem is that the ipod communication port is slow and that this problem exists on all other manufacturers adapters as well.

got my kenwood adapter today, works great, sounds better. i'm very pleased.
