What kinds of problems have you been having with itunes?

Highly overpriced pieces of hardware for the current state of technology. I am not totally against Macs but companies like Creative have been making much better mp3 players for sometime now and offering them at lower prices. For anyone who might want to buy an Ipod, go and check out the creative equivalent first then make ur decision.

Yep, don't think so, yep++ (some players have optical out in addition to a line out)

LOL. I was going to give you the benefit of the doubt, but you are an idiot. The iPod does not run an Apple OS. In fact, I can't think of a single advantage of using an ipod with a Mac as opposed to a PC, unless you have a first generation model.

I have a Creative Zen-Micro 5GB.... It's really small, good sound quality. I like it a lot. They claim 12 hours for the battery... phhhttt... more like 3.5 hours. Although it did come with a spare, so I can't complain too much. Charges quickly too. 5GB is plenty for my collection. Only thing I don't like about it, is the interface, I can't stand that 'touch-sensitive' crap much, it just doesnt always work. I like BUTTONS! That I can FEEL! It works ok, but sometimes it doesnt want to do what I want it to. Menu system is kinda klunky/cumbersome in my opinion. but for a straight-up mp3 player, it kicks ass. Good price too... I recommend, unless you need more than 3.5 hours battery per battery.

1 - If it's as simpile as a hidden folder, why can't you use a file manager [with viewing of hidden folders enabled] to load music onto it?
2 - is this only possible on a PC with itunes and/or ipod docking software installed? I ask because, as I've said, I've read about many people trying to give a friend music (tsk tsk) or even put music from their ipod onto a second PC they own and having the ipod format itself in the name of copy protection.
3 - will music taken off the ipod in this manner play, or will it sound like gibberish or cause some kind of fault [due to any encryption which may be present]?
4 - does the ipod's music folder support directory structure? [ie. when copying music from it to a PC, will it all be in the same folder?]
I'm truly curious about this, so *bump*.

1) I believe the iPod maintains an index of the files stored on it which must be updated for the new song files to be 'noticed'. I may be wrong.
2) I'm not sure.
3) It plays just fine. The files are not changed in any substantive way when transferred to the iPod. They are definitely not 'encrypted'.
4) The files are divided between a number of folders, but not in an "intelligent" way (this area of the HD is not really meant for 'humans'...).
