guess im one of those millions of stupid people that love the ipod. Big ugly wheel......Sometimes the greatest inventions are the most simple. And if the styling sucks why is it most everyone out there is out to copy them. And a dumbed-down interface....Why make it difficult when you dont have to. And a link to reviews isnt nessesary from anyone I would rather hear their own unbiased opion rather than some writer who probably doest know sh-t and is just good and making it look like he does.

says who? if you like the styling of ipods, good for you. i personally feel it only appeals to metrosexulas and thats exactly where they are getting at. i did provide a link unlike blind zealots of ipods present in this thread. function? what does it have other than the big ugly wheel? if you are you calling dumbed-down interface a feature i guess you arent competent enough to use common electronic appliances like a dvd player.
Sorry man, there's more to an mp3 player than the scroll wheel and how pretty it is.
The only reason the iRiver is "more complicated to use" is because it has MORE FEATURES FOR LESS MONEY. In all honesty, if you can't learn to use an iRiver in 5-10 minutes, please take out a gun and fill your head with lead, because you aren't going to be worth anything to society.
I WILL ADMIT:
1) scroll wheel kicks huge amounts of ass
2) ipod is cute, all white and metallic. down side is that white gets real ugly later on (the dirt shows up better on white)
3) ipod interface is simple to use BUT only because it offers far less
and fyi, I've owned an iPod, many of my friends that own HDD based mp3 players own iPods, but after doing more research, I settled on the iRiver iHP-120, and I've become enough of a fan of the style, features and ease of use (no BS software interface, just drag n drop) of the iRivers to purchase the iRiver H320 as well. In all, I've spent 700 dollars because of iRiver.
Most importantly, the iRiver > iPod in terms of sound quality. I like the bass better, and the treble sounds less tinny than it does on the iPod. The earbuds I use are Sony MDR EX-71SL. (50 retail, 35 at amazon).
