According to the 2002 census 69% of Iranian-Americans hold Bachelor degrees or above,
and more than 28% hold graduate degrees, making them the highest educated group in the U.S.

Iranian-Americans are the founders of some 380 major national firms, and the CEOs of more than 550
national companies, many of them among the Fortune 2,000 companies. The total contribution of
Iranian-American community to the U.S. economy is estimated at more than $600 billion per year.....

My guess would be that a huge percentage of them were not born in the US and could only come to the US on valid visas, which generally requires a higher level of education than many people have. Unbeknowst to most people it seems, legal immigration into the US is a pain in the ass and a lengthy, difficult, and often impossible process.

Actually, from the census data, Egyptians seem like they had slightly higher educational status than Iranians.

Why didn't the data have any asians listed? I'm curious where Chinese would be....

Aside from that, they make some damn fine sweets and deserts. A few years ago this persian girl brough some to school when they had their new years. All I can say is YUM!!!

I love Persian-Americans. I am not Persian, BTW. I have two great friends who are Persian, and both are great people, very friendly and trustworthy. I don't know what it is. Maybe the ones that came here from Iran were the fun loving people who just couldn't live under the Mullahs. But whatever it is, I have yet to meet any Persian people I didn't like. I would say the women should stay away from the bleach. I don't dig the whole fake blonde look.

I'm Persian.
I would agree to that statement, but only because most Iranians that are in America right now came here to go to college. They didn't leave Iran to get away .. they left to get an education. They came here 20-30 years ago when Shah was in power. The Iranian education system is only available to a very few individuals and that is why they come here. If I go to Iran right now and tell people I am from U.S .. I'll have a line of woman waiting to marry me just so they could get over here.

My parents came here and finished school at UCLA, speaking no english at all when they first arrived. Uncles and aunts all have degress, most of them P.H.Ds.

Look, Basically in the Iranian culture if you don't go to college you are not accepted. Period. When you go to Iranian parties the older people talk about how their son/daugther are at so and so university making so and so grades. There are a lot of doctors in the Iranian community. I don't know any Iranian whose son is not going to school. Show off culture.

This all being said I'm going to the Air Force and screw what they have to say.

Well, apparently most of you didn't go to Beverly Hills High School. That place has more persians than any other but i had 0 persian male friends. For some reason, they only hung out with their own kind so i was like screw them, 'cuz i was friends with the hot persian females. I think the persian girls are really hot...except for the ones with hair on their tits.

and the ones that do get higher education in Iran end up leaving for the fruits of the west and europe. Iran has a problem keeping the higher educated from leaving.

I guess there are some good and bad people in all cultures. The people I know aren't rich, and are pretty down to earth.

I guess there are some good and bad people in all cultures. The people I know aren't rich, and are pretty down to earth.

Well there is this one thing which i have every Persian person feel "proud" of, and basically putting everyone down doing that. I absolutely hate that. Its not just Persians who do that though, Arabs, Pakistani and Indians (North Indians to be more specific). So I guess I can't dislike em for that. I would go into details, but that would start a whole big argument. So nevermind.
