Iran is a cornered dog at this point, wouldn't be surprised if this is just the tip of the iceberg.

At this point Iran might as well get Nukes, then come to the bargaining table with the West from a position of strength. Lord knows bargaining without Nukes doesn't really mean much at this point.

The thing about nukes. Its sort of a controlled substance, you need a doctor to write you a prescription. If it was OTC you would have mass addiction and widespread death and misery.
I am not sure Iran is ready to go public.

Meh, with or without Trump, Iran's clerical leadership are going to be a bunch of sociopaths. It's baked into the cake in Iran's constitution. The Assembly of Experts picks the Supreme Leader, the Supreme Leader picks the members of the Assembly of Experts (the people get to vote on candidates picked by the Supreme Leader, yippee). The only way to change the system is for the Assembly to pick a reformist Supreme Leader which requires the Supreme Leader to pick a reformist Assembly. It's a chicken and egg problem, by design. Until the next revolution, what we see is what we're going to see.

IIRC the death toll here is quite a bit higher than when Assad cracked down on protestors in Syria. That sparked a civil war which remains ongoing.
