IRQ Conflicts with KT600 Chipset

My Nforce2 motherboard just took a dive. So rather than getting a new one I replaced my system with a KT600 motherboard that I had laying around (Yes I reformatted/reinstalled Windows XP). It is an Albatron KX600 Pro.

In all it is a good motherboard. But it is the worst motherboard in years that I have used regarding IRQ conflicts. With my Nforce2 board I was able to avoid IRQ sharing depending on the PCI slot I used. But with this KT600 motherboard it doesn?t seem like I can find any way of not sharing my IRQs.

I have tried about 5 different PCI combinations. One combo will have AGP share with USB controller. But if I put a PCI card into PCI slot #2, AGP then shares an IRQ with PCI #2 and the USB Controller then goes and shares an IRQ with another device.

I have even tried disabling USB Controllers in my device manager, but that doesn?t help the problem. I?m stuck with no USB support and the problem is still there.

I also tried to assign IRQs manually in the bios. I think I did it correct, yet my settings don?t see to stick.

Here is a prime example of my problem. It is a crappy quality video of me playing Quake4. If you notice the lag meter in the lower left hand corner, you see yellow spikes every second on the second. Yellow spikes are loss. Packet loss, and my game is greatly effected by it.

My specs...

AMD XP-M 2500+ @ 2.2Ghz
Albatron KX 600 Pro (Hyperion Pro 5.04A)
512MBx2(1024MB) DDR
Leadtek 6800LE AGP
SB Live Audigy 2
D-Link DGE-530T
Windows XP SP2

Please direct me into the next step to take, other then ditching VIA altogether.

Thanks!

PCI(-ish) devices sharing interrupts is not an "IRQ conflict". This is an urban myth, surviving since the days of ISA cards because some people never get the point.

If you're looking for something that eats your system performance, ditch the Audigy card. You'll be surprised. You might also want to try de-overclocking the machine.
