Finishing up a road trip (last leg driving home tomorrow) and drove on the California coast today (NorCal), starting the day at 7 am in LA (on 3 hours sleep in an armchair). Drove up through Fort Bragg, then took 1 to 101 into Eureka where I stopped for the night (about 30 minutes ago). Anyway...

Sun is setting in Fort Bragg, figure I should head on out. Fog rolls in. Very pretty, I stop several places along the way to take photos. Those of you who have driven CA-1 know that it turns inland and winds through the redwoods north of Hardy and probably have an idea where I'm going with this now...

Dark. Foggy, VERY foggy. Road has zero runoff area, in fact, it doesn't even have a shoulder, just trees that whizz by about 6 inches from the side of your car. Driver is a little tired. About 15 miles into the forest it's pitch black and the best that the 951's special European, High-Wattage auxiliary driving beams can do is put a little puddle of light in front of me through the fog and I'm reasonably convinced that at any moment Harry from "Harry and the Hendersons" is going to jump out in front of my car. I spent the last 10 miles thinking I was going to run off the road, plummet into the trees, and never be found.

On the other hand, that was one HELL of a fun drive.
