Irrational fears you've experienced recently?

I'm recovering from a cough/sore throat and I was afraid that the back of my mouth would swell more and more until I would suffocate and/or be unable to swallow at all.

Of course I knew it wouldn't happen, but I guess my imagination ran free.

So last night I had a dream I was walking through a forest. Something that looked like a Bighorn Sheep approached. I grabbed it by the horns and we struggled for a short while. Then i woke up...what does i mean?

Not too recent, but once at a Tournament, me and my friends stayed the night at someones house and watched the Final Destination Trilogy. At 4 o clock in the morning we went to sleep. I slept next to the TV, and couldn't stop thinking that it would fall on me and kill me.

I was awake for the next 2 hours until we had to wake up again.

That we won't be ready by Monday, when I head out for integration/demo. Oh wait, that's completely rational.

sometimes I get afraid of the dark - other times it doesn't bother me at all, but if I start thinking about it, it does...

kinda weird.

Regardless of whether it happens or not or whether it's caused by humans or not, can you really call it an irrational fear? Many scientists are telling us that it exists and is caused by humans. Is it irrational to accept what scientists tell us?

(Hopefully your answer is "no" so this thread doesn't turn into yet another debate over global warming )

When I hear a noise outside my window at night I imagine a gunman concealed in the darkness on the other side the blinds. It occurs to me that he would be able to see me perfectly through the holes in the blinds or between them where there is a gap, and I wouldn't be able to see him. Then I think about all the time he has to line up the perfect shot. At any moment I could die by gunshot to the head and, chances are, I'd never know what hit me unless I was staring at the window and saw the muzzle flash the nanosecond before my consciousness was obliterated in a whiteout of misfiring neurons.

Me in the lane farthest to the left on a three lane highway moving into the middle lane only to collide with someone changing lanes from the lane farthest to the right. Scares the crap out of me.

Dying on the toilet while #2

Not really, but man would that be embarrassing once your loved ones find you like that!

Thankfully, I'm mostly past my "OMG I'M GOING TO DIE!!!" panic episodes. Yay medicine!

Right now, I seem to be fearing eating bad food and getting food poisoning.

zombies.

I know it's irrational, but any time I'm in a building for the first time, one of my first thoughts is about how easy or hard it'd be to hole up inside and secure the building from zombies.

I think my new office building is rock solid... there are no windows on the first floor, and only two entrances from the ground: one entrance is the loading dock, which is connected to the ground with an easily removable staircase, and the other is specifically designed to keep out intruders (not sure what it's made out of, but it's pretty thick glass and is supposed to be bullet proof and shatter proof).

I fear that when I go to sleep at nights in the morning I'll actually wake up. My fears are realized everyday. I wish my fear would go away. I wish I'd "go away", that would be a blessing for me.

Cheers.

Elevators. In buildings with only a handfull of floors it doesn't get to me much, but once I get in an elevator in a skyscraper, per se, I can't help thinking that I could go falling hundreds of feet with little to no warning. I'm not sure if that's "irrational," but it surely freaks me out everytime.
