this has been all over the news. From what they are saying in a COURT you can't do what she did.
BUT this wasn't a court of law. not that it matters its done. she left so they can't make her come back and answer questions.
Sorry, it works different in front of Congress than it does in a court of law.
Also, she can't claim innocence and then hide behind the 5th. Claiming innocence is making testimony. At that point, the fifth is too late for you.

The subpoena still stands. She may have been excused from the session but that doesn't negate the subpoena. Also, the subpoena is good until the session is adjourned, which it hasn't been.
She should be fired but there is an ongoing criminal investigation so taking 5th is appropriate.

And all this comes from what the president claimed would be the “most transparent administration ever…”
Anyway, if the president is innocent, he will end up needing and wanting a special prosecutor sooner rather than later. If he and his White House already have too much to hide, then they must clam up, cry partisanship and hope their allies on the Hill and in the media have the stamina for the long, hard slog ahead.

My personal favorite of all the new revelations from the Obama IRS scandal is that White House Counsel Kathryn Ruemmler told White House Chief of Staff Denis McDonough about the impending IRS inspector general report, but of course the White House chief of staff did not tell the president.
I sat in a White House chief of staff’s office every day for more than two years. The only reason the legal counsel would tell the chief of staff about an impending report or disclosure would be so the chief of staff could tell the president. The legal counsel would assume the chief of staff would know how and when to bring up the matter.

I don't think they could ever force her to talk. Issuing a contempt of congress is about all the teeth they had to begin with.
Guess we will see what the next act in this saga brings.

Obama had nothing to do with it. Republicans look delusional and petty when they say he does.
Really this whole "social welfare org" crap needs to just go away. Be a charity, keep your donors secret and help the community and be tax exempt but you have to stay the hell out of politics. Or choose to be a political org, have to disclose your donors and not have tax exemptions. I don't agree with an effective government subsidy of political speech regardless of the political viewpoint.
