There is no way this is true. I deal with the email & collaboration catalogue at a very large IT company and we cannot offer email services without real time archiving for any government contract.

Exactly. We would get shut down if there were things missing.

The Federal government uses Microsoft Exchange at every department and agency I am aware of.

How were the emails even on her computer? They should be stored on the Exchange server and retained according to its retention settings.

And, to the Obamabots: yes, I have proof the IRS uses Exchange. www.irs.gov/pub/irs-news/ir-98-61.pdf

GSA uses Google Gmail ~ Used to us Lotus notes ugh....

And that's 16 years ago they might of switched.

So their lying about the emails being lost. Of course they would do that in a cover up. A hard drive crash never destroys all data on a drive and rarely if ever is it unrecoverable. The emails were certainly not only stored on her personal computer.

No surprises there.

What is startling is coming out with computer crash story to run cover here.

Do they think anyone is going to believe that?, I'd think they know that cover is so obviously a sham that nobody would buy it. So why use the hard drive crash scenario here? Just to buy time?

Defending this could be worse than being stupid/blind enough to believe it.

Kinda resigned to knowing those emails will not be revealed, but not because of a hard drive crash. That's really the most certain thing this points to.

Government can operate with this kind of impunity from both sides of the aisle. Cheerleaders from both sides wouldn't have it any other way.

I've never dealt with GSA.

Considering the USG's overall Microsoft buy-in and that press release its a more reasonable conclusion to assume that they are still on Exchange than that they switched to "something else" with nothing to substantiate it.

The low information voters will eat it up, it plays into their computer experiences. These are the same people who think Microsoft actually called them to fix a virus and that they won the European lottery.

This just keeps getting more pathetic by the day. All the emails between the white house and Lerner were conveniently lost.

Of course, our resident lefties continue to tell us there's nothing to see here, it was all on the up and up, only a couple of "rogue" employees in the cincy office making a mistake, that's all

Sad that the leftists continue to defend their "team", they don't seem to understand the gravity and danger of having the IRS being used as an attack dog against political opponents. By the time they realize how dangerous that is, there won't be any turning back.

I don't really care about that end of it. The IRS has been auditing political enemies for a long time now.

I'm far more interested to see if Lerner actually broke federal law. Between the missing emails and her invoking the 5th, it makes you wonder if we will ever know the truth.

Really, hated Lotus Notes. But G-mail?

Although, I find this investigation to be nothing but a witch hunt, i find the lost email excuse totally unbelievable. What, all her email was in her Personal.pst file with no archiving at the server?

I know we could not have any government contracts with their e-mail set up.

It's just the opposite. Lerner is an insignificant cog. One or more employees doing stuff they shouldn't are not a danger to democracy. The IRS acting on behalf of political masters to punish political opponents or prevent political opposition from forming is a direct threat to democracy.

Unless she's passing taxpayer info out to someone in the Democrat sphere of influence.

They lost her emails? How long did it take them to figure this out? This nation is apparently run by idiots that think we would buy their bullshit. I actually thought this administration was much more clever than they actually seem to be.

I have tuned out of this scandal. But this is really getting stupid. The IRS doesn't archive email? They really spent 10 million dollars trying to recover one persons email?

The lack of an email archive is suspicious to me for an agency that requires everybody else hold copies of their records for years.

Why don't they just ask the NSA for copies?

Oh, that is hilarious.

Not yet. That will be the next excuse.
At the current rate of third worldization, the next step will likely be that anyone with the temerity to ask for such emails will simply disappear.

So much for 'not a smidgen of corruption'.

Who exactly is going to hold the admin accountable for this? Nobody. And the admin knows that. They can do whatever they want and there are plenty in the media who will mostly ignore it. And the 30-40% of the country that would vote for him again irrespective of who was running against him, even if it were another D.
