Well, short-term it reduces oil consumption and pollution a bit, long term it reduces consumption and emissions a lot as hybrid becomes better accepted, better performing, and cheaper to manufacture.Originally posted by: gopunk

What are you smoking? They are giving rebates for reducing the national dependency on fossil fuels as well as reducing emmissions. They don't specify who you have to purchase a hybrid car from. If you want to complain, complain that they don't offer similar deductions for people who bike or walk to work.

True, true. I misunderstood your post to mean you wanted to get rid of the homeowner deduction. My bad....Take that times the millions of people in the same situation as me and this $2,000 ONE TIME tax credit is a pittance.
