People will try to tell you it's too hot, but it isn't. If you're hellbent on lowering the temp. tell us a bit more about your set up and we can offer more specific advice.

What kind of case do you have? How many fans do you have? Where is your case located within your room? How warm is your room?

All of those factors play a role in temperature.

thanks for that.

Antec SOHO 1040B, 400W PSU; 4 fans, 2 for PSU, 1 for CPU, 1 for Videocard (all in wonder 8500)
the case is located between the windows and the *famous door, there is not much stuff around the case, except pc desk and cable modem.
but I have no idea about the temp. in the room.

i think the zalman model you have is with the 80mm fan right?
i just bought the cnps3100+ (the only thing different is instead of an 80mm fan, its a 92 mm fan).

i'm running on an xp 2100+ and temps are around 42c.
are you running on silent or normal mode?
if i try to run mine on silent mode, the temps shoot up around 10-15c...yikes!

my best advice would be to go get a 92mm fan and replace the 80mm fan.

also, i have the same case as you and i didnt hear you mention anything about case fans.
maybe it's because the temperature inside your case is too hot due to not enough air flow.
when i turn down/off my case fans, my cpu temp tends to go up a few degrees celcius.

i would install at least two case fans, 1 as intake and the other as exhaust.

I've also heard the MSI boards tend to report higher temps, so keep that in mind.

oh!!!gosh.
I remember now, I removed the two fans on the back of the case b/c they are so loud..._o_
this is probably the reason. Thanks for everyone's reply.

I guess I have to check it when I go home whether it is 92mm...and Cobra can you tell me how to switch the mode of CPU fan, I never did that, thanx.

The CPU fan is in normal mode unless you attach it to the 12v -> 5v adaptor (see here, lower right corner) then it goes into silent mode.

If those two case fans of yours are a problem, I would recommend getting a rheobus so that you can turn the
fans up when you are working on cpu intensive programs/games and turn the fans down when you are idling,
surfing the net, sleeping etc.

Oh, my bad about the 92mm fan recommendation. I don't think the bracket that you have would fit a 92mm on there.

Best bet to reduce temps is instead of 2 exhaust fans, I would put one in the front so it can bring fresh air into the case.
Or if you want even lower temps, 2 intake and 2 exhaust.

Glad I could help.
