Is 600W enough?

I'm in the process of building a new PC. In about a month I should be done. I used the eXtreme Power Supply Calcuator found at the link below to figure up power consumption:

http://www.extreme.outervision.../psucalculatorlite.jsp

When It's complete, this is what I'll have inside pulling power:

EVGA 680i NF68-A1 mobo
Q6600 OC'd to around 2.8 - 3.0GHz
4GB (4 x 1GB) DDR2 800
2 x 7200 SATA HDD's
2 x 120mm LED fans
2 x CCFL tubes
1 x DVD-RW drive
4 x USB devices
Possibly dual 8800GTX or dual 8800GTS 640 vid cards. If not dual I'll definitely have either one GTX or one GTS.

With a 8800GTX SLI setup that calculator calls for at least a 536W PSU. With a 8800GTS 640 SLI setup it calls for a 488W PSU. These estimates are based on a 100% peak system load BTW.

What do you think? I know it would just make sense to get a 750W or greater PSU, but money is tight this time around. If I don't get my PSU this time around then the money will be gone (money seems to evaporate into thin air around my girlfiriend and I), and I'll just be right back at square one next paycheck. I have around 100 bucks for a PSU.

Do you think I'll get by on a 600W or should I not even consider it? I know the major factor here is what card(s) I go with, and right now I'm HEAVILY considering the 8800GTS. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Yes, a quality Corsair HX620 ($120) will power your rig. However please explain how you can afford to drop $1700+ on top notch hardware but only have $100 budgeted for a psu.

If you really want a lot of headroom for future expansion the Enermax Infiniti 720, Silverstone ST85ZF, or an Antec TPQ-850 are all solid choices.

Good post. It is pretty common that many people blow money on everything but PSU.
There are several excellent PSU units that may be had for around $100-$120.
One example would be Silverstone ST50EF-Plus. $99 @ Newegg; $80 @deadeyedata

I wouldn't build that with anything less than a good quality 700W power supply.
I think the Infinity has 2x 6+2 pin and 2x 6 pin modular, so I would probably choose that.

I found the Antec NeoPower 650W for around 120 at ZZF and I think I'm gonna give that a go. It's got three 12v rails @ 19A each. What do you people think about that one?

I was gonna go with the Apevia 680W which has dual 12v rails @ 22A and 24A but I assume that even though the Antecs rails are lower amperage, that I'd still be better off since it has 3 rails versus 2 on the Apevia.

Believe it or not, I read a couple reviews and the Apevia got good reviews and had soild power output.

I'm low on cash.

Not an Issue :

SILVERSTONE SST-ST60F

An Enhance..... in Silverstone Clothing .. Built like a tank... Sleeved and Modular

By the way SLI is pretty much not worth the expense ...Unless you are running at High Resolutions you are better off buying quality everywhere else, you will see more performance.

Too bad you already bought that 680i Ref. MOBO. ... They are still problematic....almost a year after Launch.

There's always the Silverstone Olympia 650W or the Decathlon with is the exact same but modular. It has 3 rails which have the OCP off so it's basically 1 rail with 54A, like the Corsair except the Silverstone is probably built better. You can't go wrong with any of the Silverstones.
