Is 61C too high for Opty 165@2.8 (default voltage) after

What is an acceptable range for this cpu at 2.8? I don't think my Acrtic Silver 5 has had a chance to cure yet. Room temp is 77-78F.

If that's your CPU socket temp (Temp 1 in SpeedFan), then that's too hot. If that's your indicated core temp, then it's fine.

That's the core temp (in bios) after several hours of ORTHOS. Couldn't get Speed Fan to run, it did not recognize my m/b. Hopefully, AS5 will start kicking in and help me out after a while.

Anything below 70C is ok for this cpu, right?

Use CoreTemp the software and measure it WHILE you're running the bench.

And when I had an Opty 165 at 2.7Ghz, I couldn't get it stable above 60C, so I would suggest shooting for 60C and below on Optys. Mine was a CCBBE. Or was that my Venice? Bah, too many steppings.

Actually, any socket temp below 60C is fine, although I prefer to keep mine below 55C. Since core temps aren't reported correctly with either Socket 754 or 939 chips, it's really best not to use them. But, if you decide to, 60C core temp is perfectly acceptable.

So far, I'm rock solid with default voltage at 2808. Actually...it was stable at 2871(319x9) also, but would not post at 2934(326x9), even after bumping the voltage up several times. So I backed it down to 2808 (312x9). I'm perfectly happy with that speed.
