Is a convertible inherently feminine?

What the hell is an EOS?

The type of car determines it's femininity, not the fact that it is a convertible. My 57 T-Bird is definitely not a chick car.

EOS is really girly. Sorry.

I don't think BMW 6 series convertible is girly. I don't think BMW Z4 is girly. I don't think Corvette convertible is girly. S2K isn't that girly. Miata on the other hand, is girly.

Just goes to show this is a subjective thing. I always thought T-Birds were total chick cars.

Thelma?

I can care less, after I buy my new car in a few weeks (TSX, WRX, Legacy, still haven't decided..argh) I will eventually purchase a used Miata or s2000. Probably a Miata since they're cheaper (though I'm a Honda guy at heart).

The Eos is kinda girly. Convertibles as a whole, on the other hand... not so much.

I mean, they made the Viper as a convertible, didn't they? That doesn't strike me as the girliest car that ever was.

If it's an EOS yes. Really any VW.

Why? CHeck out these pictures

Looks good to me. And I'm no chick...used to drive an M3, and switched to a Touareg becuase I thought I needed an SUV and realized that that was stupid. Really liked the VW, though, and like the idea of a convertible that also has a hard top, isn't outrageously expensive and has good gas mileage.

The only vehicle that isn't girly is a truck with a gun rack, mud tires, an American Flag, and a grill in the back. Bass boat is a plus.

Roadster is a sub-category of convertible...

OP: I think size is the biggest determinant

Miata, MR-Spyder, S2000, Eos, MINI Cooper => Girly
Mustang, Sebring, Corvette, whatever Volvo has => Not so girly

Mind you, I owned an S2000 for years and loved it, just as I imagine I'd love driving any of the cars I just called girly (Eos, maybe not because I know nothing about it)...sometimes, you just have to not care what other people think of you and go for what you enjoy

The car it replaced -- the Cabby -- was the definitive hot girl car.

I have to disagree 100% on that. Corvette and Mustang convertibles are among the girliest of all cars. After all, for years, the barbie dream car was one of the two.

I base mine on what I see overdressed bleach-blond middle aged women driving. On that note, the convertible versions of most American muscle cars are top of the list.

S2000 is girly but the Sebring isn't? It's minimalist, no sound deadening, extremely stiff, only comes in manual, needs to be revved high and 99% of owners must be guys.

I think I actually see a lot of women is Mustangs - base versions of course with an automatic.

EOS is ridiculoulsy girly!

Hardtop convertible in the $28-30K range should be the Pontiac G6 for a guy. But the Mustang GT soft-top would be better.

When you start to think about it, lots of VWs are girly. Never realized that before.

Rabbit, Jetta, Eos/Cabrio, Beatle, and Passat to a degree all very very girly

Girly Verts: Miata, MR2-Spyder, S2000, Eos, MINI Cooper, Mustang, Sebring, Volvo C70, Boxster
Non Girly: Mustang GT Manual, Corvette, Viper, Aston Martins, Jaguar XK, 911
