Not unless you live near a Costco and plan on shopping there for the rest of your life. Their "lifetime membership warranty" policy is nice - as long as you have a membership there, you can exchange an item for ANY reason for full value of the original item. IE: buy your Plasma there, a year later, you want a bigger one so you exchange/upgrade for full value of the original. Catch is, you must ALWAYS have a valid/current/continuously paid Costco membership.

We save more than the cost of membership in a month over retail, so I would say yes. Especially for big ticket items.

I bought a membershio to Costco just for their Infocus 4805 Deal a few months back. I dont nessicerally have intentions of going bakc as its a 45 min drive. But I don't regret getting my membership.

My parnets had a Sam's Club membership that was going to expire (Sam's Club is the same thing as costco almost) the same month as I got my Costco membership, so rather than them renew it I gave my mom my spouse card to Costco. She thinks it was worth the money that I paid , And she only shops there about 2-3 times a year but stocks up on alot of non-perishible items such as Can foods and lots of frozen foods for our deep freeze.

So Overall I would say yes its worth it if you go a few times a year, or want a deal on a big $ item they have on sale and live fairly close to one.

We have one. It's a pretty decent place to shop if you're looking for bulk bargains. We don't get 100% of our groceries there, but cases of water for example are $2 or something (lol - can you tell I don't do the groceries)? Actually once in a while they have good deals on blank CDs and even games. I give Costco a big thumbs up.

Big time it's worth it. They pay me to shop there anyway. I get 2% back and 2% amex.. since I average about $9000 per annum the $100 card pays for itself 4x over.

Key is you got to buy everything there. Presents for people, tools, groceries, TV, clothes everything etc etc etc.

I've been an executive member for 12 years and never lost money with the $100 fee.

I have a Sam's Club membership. No Costco's around here. But my Sam's membership is well worth it. There are 2 clubs within 20 minutes of me. I usually go every other week and stock up on frozen foods and lunch meats. Good stuff. Their price on electronics is pretty good as well.

Sams has better selection than costco (not that costco is lacking), smaller unit quantities, but in the end costs much more. I was a member of both concurrently for about 4 yrs and always found Costco to be checper and carried better, more high-end items.

Many people I say no. Obviously costco's marketing machine has suckered in a lot of people here. It works on an averaging basis. It charges a bit less for products, but you have the membership yearly fee. If you don't spend much, you lose. if you spend a lot, you win. You can't honestly believe that they are able to get things for cheaper than walmart, so they're making money somewhere, and it's with that membership fee combined with people buying a lot of crap they normally wouldn't "to save money". Plus the membership fee encourages "forced loyalty". I've seen the prices, and for our family it still wouldn't even break even on the $40 (or whatever it is)/year.

It's really quite cultish as well. I don't care for costco at all.

I currently use Sam's b/c it's close by and it's worth it for a group of college kids. Just buying the flats of water for 2 or 3 bucks has been worth the membership fee for us. We sometimes buy a crate of Red Bull and we save big time with that.

They have a return policy that can't be beat!! Buy anything from them and return it anytime...even years later.

We don't have Costco here, only Sams. I think my membership is worth it ($35/year). I buy stuffs for my friends and relatives in bulk (diapers, formula, milk, kids stuffs) and they save a bundle.
