Is a Radeon 7500 faster than the original Retail Radeon 64DDR VIVO?

For starters, ATI confuses the sh*t out of my with there naming scheme, there are so many different variations in oem/retail that I've lost track of the differences. But anyway, I have a "Retail" Radeon 64mb DDR VIVO and I was wondering if the new "Retail" 7500 was any faster than my "Retail" Radeon 64mb DDR VIVO"?. Did I say retail enough?, . yes the 64 DDR VIVO is 180 Mhz core 180 Mhz mem. The 7500 has 290 Mhz Core and 230 Mhz Mem. Also the 7500 basically a radeon core with upped frequency and MAD overclocking ram! Mine runs at 320 Core and 270 Mem (540 Effecitive Mem). Also the Dual Head and S-Video output is awesome! Use the new 9008 or the 6011 drivers. They rock. I really hope ATI does well this 2002... their hardware is killer!

Yes, the Radeon 7500 is substantially faster. The Core clock on the 7500 is 290 (retail version), and the Radeon VIVO is 183. I would go with the retail cuz you never know who is making the OEM. Newegg.com has it for $153.

check out this anandtech PREVIEW it compares the too cards. But the performance probably better are these were only beta drivers, and they have been further devoloped.

Much faster, even my VIVO SE clocked 230/230 gets cleaned by the 7500, but beware ram speeds vary from 3.6ns to 5ns on the various 7500 flavors.

Yes, the 7500 is considerably faster across the board than the 64 MB VIVO. Usually it's as much as 50%-100% faster.

Absolutely! Your RADEON is the bottleneck on your system right now. The RADEON 8500 would be a good choice for that ultra-powerful CPU you got there! And the 8500 is ultra-powerful and the ONLY card to support DirectX 8.1!
