If I understand this stuff correctly;
AGP 2X = 3.3 volt signal
AGP 4X = 1.5 volt signal
AGP 8X = 0.8 volt signal
A motherboard with a 2X slot will only use the 2X cards.
A motherboard with a 4X/8X slot will use either a 4X or 8X card.
The slots are physically different.
Some motherboards with a 4X/8X slot will only support AGP 4X. With the newer
8X cards, you need something like coolbits or Rivatuner to specify 4X in the settings
to be able to use a 8X card in those boards.
There may be some sort of auto detection on the cards concerning voltage, but if it is
I'm not aware of it.
Hope this helps
