Is Al Gorleone Mentally Ill?
According to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fourth Edition (DSM-IV), the bible of psychological problems, narcissistic personality disorder is marked by:

"A pervasive pattern of grandiosity (in fantasy or behavior), need for admiration, and lack of empathy, beginning by early adulthood and present in a variety of contexts, as indicated by five (or more) of the following:

"(1) has a grandiose sense of self-importance (e.g., exaggerates achievements and talents, expects to be recognized as superior without commensurate achievements)

"(2) is preoccupied with fantasies of unlimited success, power, brilliance, beauty, or ideal love

"(3) believes that he or she is 'special' and unique and can only be understood by, or should associate with, other special or high-status people (or institutions)

"(4) requires excessive admiration

"(5) has a sense of entitlement, i.e., unreasonable expectations of especially favorable treatment or automatic compliance with his or her expectations

"(6) is interpersonally exploitative, i.e., takes advantage of others to achieve his or her own ends

"(7) lacks empathy: is unwilling to recognize or identify with the feelings and needs of others

"(8) is often envious of others or believes that others are envious of him or her

"(9) shows arrogant, haughty behaviors or attitudes."

Note: I cut and pasted this from another BB. The signs are all there though!

At least he knows what a foriegn country is, and isn't such a loser he had to have his daddy buy him an oil company and then bail him out when he f**cked it up.

And he's not a complete facist.

And he won't f**k up our economy. (Remember Reagan and our multiple stock market crashes? That's what the republican plan can do for you!)

Clearance Thomas is a lot less expensive

I bet even with his "learning disabilities" Bush could still spell it better than you.

If we are going to drag Clearance Thomas into this, the thread should be moved to the Hot Deals Forum.

The true mentally ill are dorks who describe someone else's personality disorder (other than their own of course) as someone who should be labeled as mentally ill.

The real question is not about Gore or Bush in this thread, but the people raising the issue. To those who are curious about the subject, read this, I love it..... Are You Normal?

Gore's probably not mentally ill.

I think he's just having a hard time believing he lost.
After 24 years of careful political grooming, and I might add position changes, he can't believe that he lost a close one.

Gore had ever reason to believe he'd handily win: great economy, country at peace, idiot opponent, demonization machine running full-tilt, etc. etc. And if he didn't have all that baggage, he may well have won. No amount of spin could absolve that baggage and the R demonization machine was in high-gear, too.

Or was it all complacency? If so, Gore certainly got a kick in his. Anyway, neither Bush or Gore will win this election. Propaganda machines from the "losing" side will firmly convince america they actually won and the media will not drop this story for a long, long time...unless someone from, say, the British Royalty were to bite it...then they'd be all over that.

jn6918 -- By those standards, you could declare either Bush or Gore mentally ill. Your psychoanalysis fails because they are both pursuing what they perceive to be their legal rights in various courts. The fact that their suits have not been dismissed out of hand tells you that some other presumably qualified, rational people (judges), see enough merit in their arguments to allw their cases to proceed.

What's your point, other than to sling more mud?

I personally believe that G W Bush-lite may be mentally ill for his recent statements. Even though he is generally hiding on his ranch in Texas, and still not taking many questions or interviews from the press.

Proclaims Cheney "a healthy man, his voice strong and vibrant" while knowing that he is in the hospital and going to have a heart corrective procedure. The fact is that Cheney could not be clasified as healthy, even before this recent heart problem.

States that the whats this election to be over so he can do the Presidents job. Sorry Bush, we have a existing President, and the next one only begins to lead in Jan. 2001, not your time let. This reminds me of the time when he was rambling on and talking about the Soc Security program, "what do they (Democrates) think? They think its some kind of federal program or something."

He fights against hand counting of the ballots, while they clearly are allowed everywhere, even in his own state, by law that he signed himself. He lawyers fight for more of those mail ballots that were thrown out as illegal, but don't mention the two countys where thousands of mail applications were corrected by Republican workers.

<< Is Al Gore mentally ill ????? >>

It seems that the whole Democratic LEADERSHIP is mentally ill.

Without political power, Democratic "leaders" have nothing to "lead".

GOP supporters lead every day, remember, the government is of the people, for the people and by the people.

Folks, we are in charge, not the President...

It is apparent to me that he does have emotional problems that would lead one to think this. When he does lose all hope for the White House, and has to admit defeat, we will see one side of what he is as a man. Later when the feds come after him for his dishonesty while being at the right hand of the master (Clinton) ...we may see another side. He seems to have many sides.
I feel sorry for the man, but I am more concerned about what he making this country to go through. One thing for sure ...a Statesman he is not. He is power hungry ...at all costs, it would seem.

I don't believe Goreski is mentally ill, he's just a born and bread politician from birth, has never had a real job in his life outside of Washington, and he's not quite as smooth a liar as Clinton. What that means for him is that this was his one shot. He's gotta try every trick in the book, legal or not, to pull it out, 'cause even his home state of Tennessee doesn't want him back. He's hittin' the unemployment line next month.......where he can chat with all his legions of supporters also seeking handouts.

I heard on the radio today that I didnt really get to vote. I went to the booth and I cast my vote fot Bush but Gore won my state which means he gets all the electoral votes. The person on the radio said that they should do a split of electoral votes. This really does piss me off, were is Jesse Jackson when you need him. I feel so disenfanchised. I feel like a victim. I need to sue someone to be empowered agian. OMG I think I'm turning into Democrat!!

4842guy:

Cheney is healthy enough to be VP. There are millions of people who have heart problems and still live active lives. Arnold Schwartzeneger had a heart valve fixed and he still does stunts. From what I understand it was only a minor heart problem which was easily corrected by modern medicine. Cheney looked like he was in good shape and was back working his normal hours. The doctors say it will not stop him from being Vice President.
