I just ate at Arby's for the first time in ages and got a medium combo. Holy shit you should see how big the medium fries were. I should have taken a picture. The medium drink is most likely 32oz because I have it right next to my 32oz water bottle at my desk now and they are like the same size.

So as others have mentioned, portion sizes are out of control here!

Portion sizes is what sells. The biggest, greasiest, saltiest slab of pseudo-food wins, that's what gets customers to drive past fast food joint A and stop at fast food joint B. 1200 calories of fries > 1000 calories of fries.

You could try reading. That helps.

We are rapidly reaching a point where number of people are fucked from birth. There's a strong genetic component to being overweight as well as a learned response through your parents. Put both together and it's a terribly difficult thing to fix when you are obese and showing insulin resistance by the age of 12. They are setup at an incredibly early age to be overweight the rest of their life.

nvm was jibber

Its not difficult.just stop throwing food in your mouth. And no i didnt read your boring wall of text.
Yup, not even bothering with that. I skimmed it and saw nothing but excuses anyways.

"the problem is people don't know what healthy food is"

Well then STOP BEING A LAZY FAT FUCK AND LEARN.

Nope! Would rather be lazy and make excuses.

Jesus, dont cut out beer!.Human happines should come first.Christ im sounding like oprah

I'm pretty well informed on what makes me fat (since I was at one time > 330lb). So in life I've generally cut out fast food - as well as most processed foods.

But my one love of beer is seriously making me gain significant weight lately. Holy shit the amount of calories in a Strong Dark Belgian Ale is like 2 meals in one drink. It's honestly been the hardest thing for me to quit recently, and I could probably drop an easy 20lb if I just magically stop drinking.

Do you want a wake up call? I got one for you. This will do a lot more to alert you to the nature of the problem and what you can do about it, both in terms of policy and self-awareness-change than looking at any statistics. And yeah, seeing all those fat bodies and thinking to yourself about it does help, or should. It's an amazing documentary from 2014 called Fed UP, written and directed by Stephanie Soechtig, whose earlier films attacked GMO foods and the bottled water industry, it's narrated by Katie Couric.

You can watch it here for FREE

Seriously? The answer to fattasses is GMO? That's it? It couldn't possibly be related...
1. Overburdened, overstressed, overworked society - US works substantially more hours than most countries aside from Japan.
2. Ease of access to unhealthy foods
3. Constant marketing related to said unhealthy foods.
4. Promotions (coupons) related to said unhealthy foods.
5. Drinking excessively (like myself)
6. General Laziness
7. Cheap microwave meals
8. Cheap restaurant meals
9. Lack of modern or reasonable public transit in most places = more driving = less walking.

I mean the list goes on and on - but this film is going to try to square this strictly on Genetic modifications? I'm sorry, that's just laughable.

Oh I'm not denying that and that is how most of our fatass society thinks, but me personally I'd rather get the smaller size. That's why I got a medium thinking it would be small. I can eat the large and XL stuff, I just don't want or need to, neither do most people. It's part of the reason I like Chic-fil-a due to portion sizes. Their combo sizes are very reasonable and I don't leave there feeling like a piece of shit.

When I go out to eat dinner at a nice restaurant I much prefer going to a place where I don't have to take a doggy bag home and have room for desert after I eat my main meal and split an appetizer with my wife.

This thread is long overdue for some food porn.

Yes, anything is more useful and productive than the waste of time that is telling fat people what's wrong with them. If they don't care, no one else should either. Everyone on here acts like they have to have sex with them or something, it's weird honestly, going back to what is essentially 4th grade humor of calling someone 4 eyes for wearing glasses. Guess some never grow up.

Easy for you to say, but maybe you dont have an addictive personality. After all, someone who smokes should just stop sticking cigs in their mouth and an alcoholic should just stop throwing drinks down their throat. After all "it is not difficult". I have never smoked or used drugs, and have no problem having a few drinks, or skipping them all together. Not eating unhealthy or too much food is still not that easy, especially if you have family/friends that like to eat out a lot or simply eat too much, because there definitely is social pressure to go along with them.

I agree, and dont like to judge people based on their weight. However, I think we should have some type of program that offers a discount on health insurance premiums for those who are of normal BMI and/or can document that they exercise regularly.

Is America fat you ask?
OH YES! IT IS!
I went to pick up my 8 year old niece from school one day.
She is chubby.
And I noticed that her stomach was sticking out of her blouse as she walked down the school stairs to the parking lot.
I wondered if her classmates made fun of her, hassled her due to her weight?
Then...... I noticed ALL of the kids looked just as fat as my niece looked.
Them damn parents....
Too lazy to make sure the family has the right nutrition.
Instead.... just toss some McDonalds at them, call it dinner, and by the time the poor kid is 20 they will be obese, diagnosed as diabetic, and endure a lifetime of health issues.
Family life in America.

I think mental health is far more of great importance. I mean my next door neightbor literally at 56 yrs old, after leading a normal life all those years suddenly tried to burn his own house down, brandish a gun to police who then shot him 9 times because he thought he was possessed by the devil.

Now what leads a grown man to suddenly think he's possessed i'll never know. One time, we were out working on some utility lines and this guy comes up and serenades one of my co workers, yeah he just starts singing to him. but clearly America has a mental health issue.

2 of my coworkers drink Coke all day. i've never seen them drink water. im not sure how they are alive.
obviously they are beyond fat. how fat? i dont even see their necks.
scary.

One of my guys drinks mountain dew all day and night, his morning consists of cracking a mountain dew as soon as he wakes up and then grabbing more for the rest of the day and maybe some sugary donuts/candy if he feels like eating breakfast that day. He admittedly never drinks water and even goes to bed with mountain dew on his night stand. Hes been doing it for decades but somehow hes skinny as a rail and not dead. He complains his fingers go numb when he eats which from his own research is a sign of diabetes. Doesn't stop him from consuming ridiculous amounts of sugar or even getting checked out by a doctor.

I haven't drank pop in years, when I think back to how in grade school we thought it was cool to drink large amounts of the stuff it makes me cringe.

Lets not give pop all the blame though. Beer, wine, and mixed drinks/hard liquor also have a lot of calories. Granted, it is not basically pure sugar as in pop, but calories still count. A can of coke has 140 calories: most bottles of beer have that many, and a lot of mixed drinks are in the range of 200. I drink both pop and alcohol, and used to be able to drink 2 or 3 cans of pop a day, but then I was running 10 to 15 miles per week as well as playing tennis, volleyball, softball, and skiing in the winter. I was also very thin then, about 140 pounds. Now, that I am older, I try to cut down on both, and still have put on about 15 pounds.

The internet evolution, improvements in online gaming, netflix, mobile gaming are probably more of a factor than soda. Also potentially impacting is the nanny state created in the education system, less focus on competition, reduction in physical education etc... Bans on dodgeball, tag etc...
