Back in the mid '80s you needed them, memory was in what they them call SIPPs and looking at it wrong killed them. They came in snti static sleeves and cost a fortune. Something like 800 bucks for 512k. Of course, a 386/25mhz pc cost 12,000 bucks too back then.
