Is AnandTech bias towards some companies?

I enjoy reading posts in the forum, but I am curious about the products that Anandtech reviews. Is this site reputable in terms of reviews? When I click on the tab for "About" it doesn't say anything. It seems like the website doesn't provide information to help me decide whether I can trust their reviews. The only things I know I found on wiki.

Can someone set me straight?

Out of curiosity why did you think that Video Cards and Graphics was the right place to post this. How does the topic even remotely pertain to this forum? I genuinely want to know what you were thinking, not sarcastic at all.

AT has some of the least biased reviews you will find anywhere. I never see a trace of bias one way or the other.

Ya, VC&G isn't the best place for this. I moved it to suggestion box.

In my opinion, the reviews are quite good, and unbiased. Only review site I can really think of that has bias issues is tom's hardware.

First, the word you're looking for is "biased".

To answer your question, I think this is one of the most unbiased sites for reviews of products.

I posed the question to find out opinions. I keep seeing Acer reviews and wondering where all the other new products are. Acer is good, but I was hoping to read more reviews.

AnandTech reviews what companies will send them. If no one but Acer will send laptops, then all they can review is Acer laptops.

Tomshardware is very biased, I don't trust their reviews one bit. Techreport, Anandtech, hardocp are all top quality sites catering to a different type of review on the same video card and all are well worth reading.

Tom's Hardware is in my view one of the least reliable and most biased tech sites there is. I gave up looking at it years ago for the simple reason that it can't be trusted to be honest or objective.
Anandtech is pretty good in my opinion, I also reckon Hardocp and tech report pretty unbiased.

Tom's Hardware is very biased... I'm hardly on there anymore... So many ads and some of their articles are "fake" and are actually paid sponsorship articles...

AnandTech is one of the most trusted and they do a very through review! Also they will not hide or fluff any negative features.

As far as Tom's Hardware is concerned if you had looked there in the past you would have sworn that they were on AMD's Payroll. Tom's Hardware has always had a lot of international infuence. I know they also publish their site for different countries. I thought they were a German Based Website. Isnt that where the headquarters of research and development is for AMD???

You cant be expected for any website to support the loser #2 Processor Company??? If they made better processors, maybe people would want to buy their product. Intel may in fact have a virtual monopoly in the Processor world.

I like their site cuz they will make builds and run tests on them and discuss the good and bad or any trade offs. Kinda interesting. Also, the format of their website is better than others.

Yes, sometimes tomshardware talks about a new product in "Latest News" but it seems like it was written by the company that released the product.

AMD. We all know this is not a good time for AMD, but we need them. We need competition. If AMD went under then we would be forced to use Intel. Do we want a monopoly on CPUs? Of course not. It's bad enough when companies collude together and do price fixing (LCDs). Currently, I use Intel CPU and Nvidia GPU (almost bought a AMD), but that could change in the future.

Their forums are okay... But their review and articles are a joke... some of their news articles are old and copied from other sites...

Obviously anandtech can only review hardware that is sent to them but allowing for this I find them extremly unbiased, when a reviewer points out that they prefer something for personal reasons they always explain that it is personal opinion not jut "I think this is better".

Look man, if you want to know if a review site, magazine, etc is biased in favor of a company just see if that company advertises with them and if it does you can be sure they are biased towards that company. That is just the nature of business man, you don't bite the hand that feeds you.

I find the reviews here to be very solid for the most part, though, and make many of my purchase decisions based on them. I find the help given in General Hardware to be even more useful in many ways, as well.
