Is Anandtech getting lazy???

I know i am sorta new....but when i started coming here.....i see lots of reviews....now i only see a couple a week......barely 2 reviews/topics this week....wussup with that?

I have to admit, i come to anandtech for the forums, not the articles, this is because they dont have that many articles. For articles, you have to go to a collection of sites. Another thing i was wondering was, anandtech makes 1+ million from banners only, ehm..look at the ffront page and count the adds....well if they make so much off of us, i think we should get more in return, more articles or reviews......so screw me if i am wrong

It's not really AnandTech's fault. There just isn't much new in the industry. Back when AnandTech really got popular, things were starting to heat up between AMD and Intel - there was the release of the K6, PII, Celeron, K6-2, etc. - and the 3D video card scene had more players in it than I can count on both of my hands. Now we tend to just have faster releases of the same old same old...and these reviews get boring and might be overlooked by us.

Since the beginning of the new year, there have been 12 new articles. 12 new articles in 19 days. I'd say that's more than once every other day. Its much closer to an article every 1.5 days. For a private site, writing 6+ page articles that regulary is pretty good. I don't think any other major review site puts up that many quality articles.

cpus and mobos isnt all they can review, anything that has to do with computers. Theres billions of speakers, and most people are very confuesed on what to buy. Lots of mice to review, lots of keyboards, lots of cdroms, cdrws, dvd drives......theres tons to review

i think they can start to do more reviews on differet brands based on one technology(ie chip), not just one overview and one roundup for each chip. then they will have alot more stuff to write about.

IMHO, Anandtech should stay away from storage (they have, thank goodness) and leave it to Storage Review.

things like Printers, Scanners, and Digital Cameras, as well as MP3 players though, are a good idea, as well as speakers (we have a pretty good person on our website just for audio!).

however, what I hate about other sites's reviews on topics like the above, is that they don't do long term testing. they say, well this feature is good, and this one is good, but this seems to suck, so I'll give it a 6 out of 10.

long term testing gives a more accurate picture of things like printers, MP3 players, Palm and Pocket PCs, Scanners, etc..

Give them a break. Walk in their shoes for a day and you would probably be amazed they write as much as they do. Let's try to remember. They don't have to do ANYTHING!!!!

As far as other reviews go. Case reviews would be nice.
Speakers? Nah. The only person I trust on how good something sounds is me. Storage? Leave it to storagereview, they rock..
Monitors, once you forget all the cheap generic stuff, it's very subjective. Bought a Mag monitor a few years ago from all the glowing reviews on the web. Took it back, I thought it looked like crap.
Keyboards and mice??? Give me a break. Who's to say how it will feel to you.

I'd also like to see more case reviews. When I put together my first system I used this forum for 99% of my decision in getting the Antec KS282. I was disappointed that anandtech didn't have reviews of the other popular cases.

Um....it is just my opinion but although I know it is a lot of work to do these articles, to say that they don't have to do anything is waaaay off. This site is a business. It generates cash from its customers/visitors, and like any business, if nothing is done to keep the interest alive, people would simply go to sites that do.

However, most of us come here just for the forums, and apparently, Anand knows this. Just a few days ago, another server was put up to lessen the forum load. I am sure paying for the bandwidth and maintainence aren't cheap.

Hardware companies can only bring stuff out as fast as they can research and get it running! Latly the hardware market has slowed down alot and so Anandtech reviewers and the boss himself can't! They can only review stuff if they have it and if they don't then no review. You can't blame Anandtech for the lack of reviews and stuff! Blame the manufaturers and companies cause they are the people who supply stuff to Anand!

Hope we got that straight!

Cardart,We do get quiet peroids hardware news wise etc,when we do get new articles to read they are very good &amp; in depth,Plus they have other things to do,look at these forums, they`ve just been improved, so we are spoilt sometimes .

I think they need more staff, that way they could handle a broader range of reviews instead of just mobo's and video cards (for the most part). Yes, they do make a killing...but he worked for it...plus he provides these forums for us, so I'm not complaining.

You folks have to remember that 95% of the Anandtech team is in college.

Anand - Freshman at NC State
Kiran - Same
Manveer - Same
Matt - Sophomore at Duke University
Mike - Graduated Duke and is now doing medical studying at Carolina
Myself - Junior at NC State
The other members of the Anandtech crew are also in college
I believe that Jason is the only &quot;elder&quot; person

We all are busy folks and try to keep the site as fresh possible

I think it is fine. I could imaging writing all those articles and then trying to go to college. It would really be tough...

As for other reviews:
Speakers - They sound different to everyone. Some hiss on speakers might annoy the hell out of some people, while for others it doesn't bother them.

Monitors - Same as speakers, they look different to everyone.

Digital Cameras - DPreview and other good sites have so many reviewed that it makes no sense for Anandtech to do a couple.

I agree, case reviews would be nice but other than that I think it is perfect. I like reading the new detailed reviwes on cpus, motherboarsd, the main stuff of a computer.

As for something like keyboards or cd-roms, lol it doesn't matter what I have really.

Now all of you know how busy and hard work it is for the Anandtech team! NFS4 has spoken finally and has enlightened us all! We should appreciate what Anandtech and the team have done for us! They have social lives and school to thing about too! So if you think that they don't do anything then you are being selfish!

I appreaciate every last bit of work they have put into these forums and the main web page.
