I'm in my sophomore year in CE. I am so worried that my GPA will plummet this semester. It has been nothinn but a rough ride fo rme ever since my last quarter (Last year was the quarter system, this year we converted to semester). I cant seem to get A's in anything anymore and I am constantly thinking about switching out. SOmetimes i think i cant handle it, but everyone tells me to hang in there. I am just scared that when i am on coop or when i graduate, that i will not be able to do the job because i couldnt even handle some of the course work. People tell me getting C's is good for an engineer, but if that was the case, i would be near the top of my class. I'm so sad now
GPA usually doesn't matter so much...no one I knew w/ a CE degree had any problems getting a job. Everyone's making 45-55k. I wouldn't worry about it if I were you..hell I had a web development internship...
GPA does matter if you're straight out of college and have no work experience ... what else can they base it on? I've interviewed a few people for an EE position before and GPA does matter. For us it was, GPA, projects, and the techicals questions we ask on the spot.
A few years ago, when the econ was really good, GPA does not matter, cuz everyone was hiring like mad but now since there's more talent in the pool of applicants we can pick and chose.
For EE, I'm sure you'll get a wide range of replies on "what a typical EE work description is" ... when you're a BSEE don't expect to do a lot of design or layout work ... one thing I learned was that your 'presentation' and 'communication skills' are really impt., many people think a good engr. is one that very technical but there's a big part of the job that's not technical.
