Is anyone else watching NCAA basketball?

I think I'm more interested in the women's final than the men's final. Caitlin Clark is the Stephen Curry of women's college basketball but the offensive rebounding kills them and South Carolina comes away with the win.

I can proudly say, I am not...I don't watch college sports of any kind...nor basketball of any flavor.

I decided to end my bike ride just before getting home at a local sports bar to watch the last quarter, as I had to get outdoors for a ride.

Fun to watch. The women competing the way they did was exciting. I rarely watch any bball though, but maybe some playoff/finals games. But it was good ball.

With such a lousy draft class this year can't say I have been excited about watching it. Was nice to see Castle have a big game last night but dude can't shoot for crap (if he could he'd easily be the #1 pick in June). It's funny that Edey is so dominant in college ball but probably won't get picked until 15-30 even in what is shaping up to be the weakest NBA draft in decades.

Ouch, that's pretty low for a 2-time player of the year lol. Yes Edey looks slow, and it looks like he needs quite a bit of strength work in the upper body (despite him being almost unguardable in college). But he actually moves decently for 7-foot-4 (not quite as well as Wemby). Historically, most guys above 7-foot-2 are super clumsy and awkward (think Mark Eaton). Edey's mom is Chinese, so he'll be one of the few players in the NBA of Asian descent (probably the first ever from Canada).

Had both games on while doing stuff around the house. I definitely paid more attention to the women's game than the men's. Clark is good, but even before desperation mode she took some head scratching shots from way beyond the arc. IDK if that's her game but I imagine that won't translate well to the wnba. Also, if you've never seen him, watch some clips of Robbie Avila from Indiana State. He entered the portal, but I'll be paying attention to him. Steph Blurry ftw! lol

Gotta say it's a way bigger gulf than not moving quite as well as Wemby when Victor's already among the most agile bigs we have ever seen. Edey came back because he wouldn't have been a first round pick last year despite also being a Naismith Award winner that year but this draft is so bad he has a decent chance of getting that first round guaranteed money. Clingan is considered a far better NBA prospect though since he's way more agile than Edey and a better defender too. Sarr's the best center prospect in this draft but Clingan should go around 10, maybe before too.

I've only watched a few games, but that's how she plays. Everybody wants to be Steph Curry these days. She dropped 41 points in their semifinal game, and that was the kind of performance Iowa needed to beat SC.

No, I wasn't actually trying to compare Edey to unicorn Wemby. But like I said, Edey moves OK for 7-foot-4 compared to historical norms for that size. He seems slow as fuck, so who knows. I'm no draft expert but I'm surprised to hear Clingan will go before him. The good news for Edey is that even in today's NBA where there are few traditional centers left, 7-footers can ride the bench for many years and collect paychecks.

More people had access to the women's championship game than the men's because the former was broadcast OTA on ABC. Damn the NCAA for letting the Final Four be taken over by pay TV in recent years.

Neither game was ultimately competitive at the end. UCONN and South Carolina were dominant in the 2nd half of their games.

Edey's a poor fit for the NBA game as it is right now and teams don't want to spend a high pick on another Boban Marjanovic. Clingan's more mobile and a better defensive prospect while also being two years younger so he's got some real room to improve, especially looking at the jump he took this season over last. Maybe Edey sneaks into the top 10 because every high end prospect other than Clingan this year has enormous red flags. Risacher, Sarr, Dillingham, Buzelis, Holland, Topic, Sheppard, Williams, Castle, Walters, Collier would probably be guys going 7-25 in most drafts. Not one of them has separated himself from the pack and Holland, Walters, and Collier have had seasons that were absolute disasters. But I'd still be surprised to see Edey go in the lottery. Jahlil Okafor was a much better prospect than Edey with a similar low post game and similar defensive weaknesses and flamed out hard. He was unplayable in the modern league and teams are going to have those same concerns over Edey.
