I don't mind it too much. I live in Michigan and went to Houston twice last year and once this year for business. Haven't had any trouble with flights or anything like that, and the only layover I've experience was this last time which the layover was only an hour.

I hate spending a day flying and walking through airports, if that's what you mean. Well, I don't mind flying, but you have to run to each gate then wait awhile. I like going to new places though.

Same here. I just got back from Toronto on Friday afternoon. Spent four days up there fixing IT issues and setting up a new T1 connection. I didn't venture out to the downtown area as I just didn't feel like it.

I prefer to stay at home.

I've traveled with my parents and grandparents already, when I was much younger. Some of it was alright, but I didn't really come across anything that made me think, "I must come back here again sometime!"
My interests in "travel" would be somewhere far beyond the bounds of this planet's gravity well.

It gets old if you travel frequently, but one trip to Atlanta and you're complaining? Jeez. Atlanta is a great city, with something for just about everyone.

If you stepped outside of your little bubble, you might actually enjoy yourself.

I'm sure I would, but what is there to do when you are here for 1.5 days with your parents and little brother?

I'm coming back here next year though for Dragoncon with my friends, I've never been and I think it'll be fun since it's something I've never done before.

That's not even comparable. I also hate traveling, but moving for college isn't related at all; traveling is usually an ordeal that consists of multiple plane flights within a one week period. Moving to college usually involves a road trip (which can be fun by itself) and a big move-in. BIG differences between the two. Also, consider that the college move only really happens once. Traveling can theoretically take place up to dozens of times in a year, especially if you have a job that requires a lot of travel.

I dislike traveling, I'd much rather be at home. I have a lot more control there. That's probably what it is.

Get off your butt and get out and see the city, ATL is a wonderful city, and also if you are traveling all you really need is a clean hotel room to sleep in, spend the rest of the day in the City

I hate going to airports and all the hastles. I hate congested cities.

I love traveling though. Beaches in Mexico are nice, Alaska rocks, road trips to Wisconsin are always fun.

Don't listen to these two. People like to think that places in the U.S. are so vastly different from one another, and that their experiences are going to be so new and exciting. There are maybe a handful of places that you'll find like that (i.e. New York, New Orleans, Las Vegas, Hawaii) -- the rest are likely very much the same as where you're at now, or what you've already experienced. There might be one or two different "tourist attractions", but overall it's going to be structured very much like every other metropolis area that you've seen. And believe me, Atlanta hardly qualifies as one of those unique cities.

Obviously every city has its own "feel" to it. But if you think you have to "investigate" a city (especially like Atlanta), then you obviously haven't gotten out very much in your life. Because most of them all end up being very similar. Maybe the restaurants and stores have different names -- but guess what? They're selling the same type of thing you can buy in any other city.

I don't particularly like traveling either, but its more for the cost and hassle. Plane tickets are expensive, hotel rooms are expensive. Driving a car to the destination isn't any easier, driving more than a couple of hours in a single sitting is a nightmare for me.

What you do when you're at the destination may be fun and memorable, but the act of getting there in the first place almost makes it not worth it.

Traveling is even worse when you're camping in tents/trailer/motorhome, biggest pain in the ass there is.

I love to travel and have taken my family overseas many times. I really feel that foreign travel is a eyeopener for my kids and they love it. Shopping, eating and sightseeing is some of their favorite things to do but I really feeling that they are getting a education at the same time. My kids still pester me
about going back to Asia again...

I am somewhat similar.... I hate the airport/airplane experience with a real passion. I was in Fairfax, VA last week, and I despised the flight back to Houston Friday night. Flying doesn't scare me, but I really dislike being crammed into the seat and being surrounded by tons of other people. There was a family behind me with a big mess of kids who kicked and punched my seat on and off through the whole flight. Invariably most of my flights go this way...

Now, if I could fly first class, it might be better. What would be even better is flying on a chartered jet... More than anything is the discomfort and inconveinence aspects of the experience.
