I really want broadband, I'm too far from the CO for DSL, cable says cable modems will be here in 3yrs, looked at Directpc, but AOL plus doesn't have a FAP policy, and is about $9 a month cheaper. Just would like to know, if anybody has it?
The Direct PC 2-way will be out soon. I have first hand experence with the Starband system.
The worst thing about any 2-way satellite system is the latency. With average pings in the 700ms range, a satellite ISP is not the choice for gamers. The price may be a factor for some. Also the 2-way technology is very new and there are many bugs to be worked out.
I would wait a bit before trying any satellite ISP. This fall things will improve and there will be more players in the satellite ISP market.
I can't believe you asked if something with AOL in it was good in an Anandtech forum! Besides that, I know a few people with AOL Plus and its not all its cracked up to be. Same ol sh|tty AOL. Are you too far out for *any* dsl service, like sdsl? I'd check into all your options before going with aol plus
