Is AT&T BS-ing me? Can GSM connect to tower 30mi away?

ever thought of wearing watch if your so worried about time? only problem i could see if telling when someone called but a glance at yourWATCH should solve that. Cell towers can go alot farther than 30 miles ever go camping?

ATT user-Recently I've had to go to Yuma,AZ (20-30 mi from Mexico) and on 3 different trips I kept getting requests to update time and later was billed for international roaming, text messages were .50 ea also. So, yes...I think it's possible you are picking up the other tower. Sounds like a good time to switch carriers!

POS towers here are off an hour a half the year, because they assume we have daylight savings or something (we don't).

but since my phone isn't a joke, i just disable sync and it keeps time fine. How fucking lazy were they that they couldn't have an accurate clock on the phone?

probably been mentioned, but see if there is some sort of ntp app for your phone (so it can sync time from the net).

totally unrelated, but kinda.

i just switched providers today from AT&T to WalMart's new Family Mobile plan (it rolled out 2 days ago). they're using T-Mobile's network. i only use my cell phone for talk and text, and the Family Mobile is only $45/month for unlimited voice and text. that's right: unlimited. got to keep my same phone, same phone number. it's not a contract deal either. *cartwheels*

each additional line is $25/month.

they offer data/web packages, but didn't really look into it since it wasn't something i needed.
