Is AUDIO TECHNICA headphones worth it ?

I am getting this Audio Technica ATH-T300 for 23 USD here. Should I go for that or you suggest something else?

Lately I have been hearing AUDIO TECHNICA's reviews a lot. Is it worth the hype?

My usage: Songs, Gaming sometimes like CS.

I have a different Audio Technica model (ATH-M30) and I definitely like them. Well made too - got them mid 2008, and they still work great (though the earcup foam isn't in great shape, 5 years later).

audio technica doesn't do "hype". they are a legitimate audio company, like AKG, or sennheiser, and NOT like "Beats By Dre".

still, i'm kinda worried from that price. so low for a ATH. it's been a while, i dont know if they decided to open up to the commercial/cheapo market.

you will have to take a risk. anyway, you are still more likely to get a good product from them rather than from Sony or other brands that work more on promotion rather than quality.(sony does some nice stuff, so maybe bad example, but still, you get my drift)

Probably a pretty good product, but I can't speak for it. Here are some other products worth considering in that price range:

Monoprice 8323 - Built well, somewhat bass heavy sound
Tascam TH-02 - Pads are hit and miss for some people, but they sound pretty good. Surprisingly neutral for what they are, but not perfect.
JVC HA-RX700 - Quite large, but comfortable. Fairly balanced, but somewhat warm sound. Can be a bit rough sounding up top.

The build quality has gone down since they started adding the -X suffix imo. (e.g. AD700 -> AD700X)

While I have no experience with those, I do suggest the OP to prioritize headphones that have a reputation for being comfortable. Headphones feeling bad to wear are bad value regardless of sound quality and price, and at low budget you can't afford to miss so bad you have to sell the phones and re-buy.

I bought my first and only set of Audio-Technica headphones roughly 10 years ago this summer. So worth it. Made in Japan, comfortable, quality. I'm on my 3rd set of ear pads (AudioTechnica USA will ship a fresh set to you for under $20) and I did have to replace the 1/8" plug. That's after 10 years of abuse though.

Audio-Technica is not hype. When you buy Audio-Technica you buy quality like with Sennheiser, AKG, Beyerdynamic.

Yes, they are worth it and I regret the day I sold off my Open Air AD700s had I know the AD700x would be a downgrade. For the AD700s I had, very comfortable and solid soundstage for the price.
