Is Audi's quality at a decent level right now?

I believe Audi had some pretty bad quality problems in the late 90's and early 00's. A friend of mine had a 2000 A4 and while she loved the car, she got rid of it last year because of all the maintenance headaches it had. I am looking at getting a new(er) car in 2-3 years. I would LOVE an S4, and if I bought a 2-3 year old one I could afford it. Something much like this one if I were to be purchasing right now. So pretty much I would be buying a car that is new or nearly new right now, in 2-3 years. Is buying a used manual transmission sports car a pretty bad idea or is Audi quality high enough now that I'm not insane?

I have a 2003 A4, and it's had a few flaky electrical problems. That seems to be a common problem with Audi's from what I've heard.

my bro has a 2002 A4.. electrical gremlins aside, he hasn't had too many problems. as long as you take care of german cars, they are generally quite reliable, if im not mistaken.

plus i better get some nice treatment from stealerships for owning an A8

This is my 2007 A4 Quattro Sline, I love it. Quality is great. No better or worse than BMW and Benz. Warranty is great, and the dealer is fantastic....which is the most important thing when buying a car, a good dealership.

My dad owns an A6 (the one before the current gen) and the dealer has always been great. Couple lower control arm problems are all that has plagued it afaik.
