I hold the door open for whoever, someone walking out as I'm about to walk in or someone walking in after I am. Haven't had a rude comment or anything, usually thanks or they do the same for me later on, that's always nice.

wtf?

Stupid fvcking men, always opening doors for women to prevent equality.

I've yet to experience anyone going off on me for holding open the door. However, I quite often will have the following happen: I'm walking through the doorway, turn back to see if anyone's behind me, notice someone coming along, hold the door as I'm half-way through, and then watch as the person: a) makes absolutely no attempt to hold the door on their own, apparently assuming my one task in life is to ensure their unimpeded travel, and/or b) makes no attempt at even so much as nodding a non-verbal "thank you."

I haven't opened doors for women now since 1985.

I opened the door at a nice office tower in New York City and a woman cold cocked me yelling the same feminist equality tirade mentioned above.

Had this happen today I would be looking at a nice lawsuit settlement.

Did you:

1) hold door open for her to pass ahead of you (going same direction)
2) hold door open for her to pass first (going opposite directions)
3) hold door open behind you to prevent it closing in her fizace

Presumably it was 1 which is beyond the common courtesy of 2 & 3, so may appear as having other implications, particularly when of similar ages.

If she "liked you" (positive impression) then she may not have complained -kinda like the courting vs stalking thang.

I also hold the door open for anyone behind me regardless of gender. Never had a response like the OP's.

"I'm terribly sorry, I thought you were a man. It's hard to tell, what with the mustache and all..."

But yes, pretty much any time someone acts like a basic act of kindness is somehow repressive of a race or gender, that person is dumber than a bag of rocks. Now if you were whistling and pinching her ass as she walked by...

Tell her that she will be alone for the rest of her life with her cats. That should hit home.

ffs, who was this wretched woman? she isn't speaking for the majority of us.

What is this "US" you speak of? Pic or else!

Do a search, she has posted her pic before.

The only pictures I've seen of "her" is some fat person in purple undies. Unless that's actually is it...

Wow, people sure are generous for such a small gesture!

Gender! Say gender! Not sex.

So by that logic, if I hold the door for a guy, am I automatically gay? It's energy efficient for your to take the door when someone else has opened it.

She's not a feminist. She is a radical feminist. They have given the term "feminism" a bad name.

My sister brought this to my attention. We're both feminists - we support equality for the sexes, simple as that. But it's the radical feminism (and indeed radical anything) that's a problem.
If I say, "men tend to have larger bodies than women," then a radical feminist might get all in my face about me being sexist. Guess what, that's just a statistical truth. It's the way things are.
Or the few women who think that men should all pee sitting down. If anything, they should just make fun of guys who make a big deal out of going standing up. "Woohoo, look at how much better I am than women! I can easily control the direction of my urine stream! Life is wonderful and nothing else matters!!!!!!"

So, OP, you had a run-in with a radical feminist. Radical anybodies don't respond to logic.
I suppose you could have slammed the door in her face then - been violent like she probably expects men to be. But hey, men fight with other men, so you might as well treat her equally.

I do any of 1-3, and the choice is made depending mainly on which foot I happen to be standing on, and which way my balance is shifting. I often take steps depending on how heavy I anticipate a door to be. If I see someone coming, this is a distraction, and so my step gets a bit off. With balance affected, then I open the door, and if I happen to move one way or another, that determines who goes through the door first - me, or the other person.

Yes, I have been told that I think about things too much. I guess I do it to be less bored all the time.

As far as I can tell, holding the door open is something normal people do for each other, you just happened to run into a feminazi. If this is your gf, i'm sorry, but I recommend moving on.

If that's your gf, you better start running now. Run as fast as you can. Definitely red flag for a psycho. If you stay with her, expect more baggage to come.
