Is Chris Weinke too old to win the Heisman Trophy?

They just had a HUGH argument on ESPN with Mel Keiper and some NY Radio analyst. Keiper says he's legit but the radio analyst says he left Weinke off the ballot COMPLETELY because he talked to Phil Simms, Boomer, and Bob Greise and they all said Weinke has an advantage being 28?

Who gives a flying fsck how old he is. The Heisman trophy goes to be best individual player in college football. PERIOD. It doesn't matter if you're 18, 28, 38, 48. If you are eligible to play and Weinke obviously is he deserves the trophy if he wins it.

I can't believe that guy. I agree with Keiper that he should never have a vote in the Heisman trophy again. Not because he didn't vote for Weinke but the fact that he left him off completely from the ballot. What an assho1e

Nope. That was stated in the argument...I was pissed at that dude. I mean they guy should be recognized for his ability. Who care how old he is. Yea he's a little more mature. So what, he's still the best player (opinion) in the NCAA.

i think it was kirk herbstreit that pointed out something very valid on this. there is on restriction on age, it should go to the best player, which i think weinke is, but herbsteit said this - weinke is 28 and played minor league ball for 6 years, which means he didn't touch a football for 6 years, so when he came back at 24, he had to relearn everything, something no kid coming in from high school ever has to do. i know this was validated by mark richt, the offensive co-ordinator who also stated that weinke has had to learn more than any other player he's ever coached. so how can being 28 be an advantage in any situation like that??

give weinke the heisman, he deserves it!

there's a woman soccer player at my school that's 32...she was one of the league MVP's...my school is our local community college, Ohlone College in Fremont, California...

she had an advantage though, she had played in a canadian league before but about Weinke, if he is the BEST individual player then let him have it...but i think Josh Heupel will win the Heisman...

Weinke's a good athlete, and an exceptional QB. I think he's the most talented player in the NCAA, so he should get the Heisman.

trmiv: whoa, same to you too...well the stairs still suck...just a couple of weeks ago one of the newspaper reporters counted the steps starting from "olive walk" to the highest point which is the newspaper's room, it was like 800 steps or something...

back on topic, its not going to be LaDainian Tomlinson, the running back from TCU, its pretty much between Heupel and Weinke...

Weinke sucks a big one. that dude is like over 10 years older than me, yet he's only 3 years ahead of me education wise. Then again he's making money and i'm not. well i am, but not that much. but i'll make more once i get my degrees....unless he makes it to pro football and gets a good salary. if he doesn't, i win. he loses. but i think he will make more money.
