I have been using Firefox but even with adblock plus I am seeing all kinds of junk. I have read a lot of praise about Chrome but havent messed with it. Is it better that Firefox on Mac, and even on pc for the matter because i use both.

I use Safari on OS X, it isn't not appreciably slower than anything else, and I just prefer the layout and look of it to anything else. Get some good extensions (ClickToFlash, SafariAdblock, CleanerYouTube, etc.) and you are cooking.

Firefox doesn't play nice with scrolling, OS X's dictionary, spell checker, or (and this may have changed) services menu. Chrome... I just don't see the point of it on OS X, not when there is Safari.

Its all the same.
Just use the one that works best for you.
I would recommend Safari but that is my personal choice.

Safari fails badly when it comes to tab management. Come on guys, it's 2011 and I still can't save multiple tabs on startup? It also won't restore your last session if you have multiple tabs open and safari crashed.

Chrome works and looks like a charm on MacOSX but once FF 4.0 is out I'll switch to that. FF 3.x just looks awful to me on the Mac but it has a lot of useful extensions and my favorite developer tool HttpFox which allows me to forgo BurpProxy.

Why not just try it?

Install glims to fix those problems. Certainly the second one, I don't feel that the first one is a problem, but that is just me. There are sites that I go to everyday, but Top Sites is my solution, I open sites I want, in the order I want, at the time I want without having to close ones that are unnecessary. I don't always want anandtech open for example.

And hey, thank god there are like 10 different browsers for OS X, I can use Safari and you can use Firefox and we can both be happy, and think the other person is wrong

Agree. I used Safari since I bought a Mac, however I have ditched it recently because I find that once you have tabs working, you would get the 'spinning beach ball', especially if you have a video running in one of the tabs.

I have since moved onto Mozilla Firefox and have not had an error problem since. :awe:

What are your specs and how many tabs are you talking about? Also, what kind of video. I ask because I can get a lot of tabs and windows going (40+ and 4+ respectively) and I don't get the beach ball much at all.

I switched from FireFox to Chrome since on my MBA if I have a bunch of tabs open I see beach balls. I don't have that issue in Chrome.

I like Chrome because its very fast. But I also like Firefox because its got lots of add ons. I would have so say that Firefox has a little advantage over Chrome because of the myriads of add ons you can use with the web browser.

I use Safari at work because most people use it that I develop for (There are some issues with Parental Controls and other browsers..)... However if given a choice.. Its always Chrome.. I don't find myself wanting or using add ons much and Chrome is just too blistering fast.

I have installed FF4 beta since its been available that I use with my socks proxy.. but I still don't like it.

Huh?
There is an option to select a folder in the bookmark menu to open your tabs on start or new window.

So I've been using my MBA 11.6" for a week now.
Its my first mac ever and I just love this laptop.
I've been using firefox because its what I'm used to.
I like it for the sole reason that I can have google bar on there with all my favorite links.
I like it because once I log out, someone who is using my Mac won't have access to it.
Anyway so I've noticed that when I type replies, it lags alot.
Like sometimes when I'm 5-6 letters down before it catches up.
At first I thought it was the laptop bogging down but since I've switched to Chrome no lag.
Is this normal with Firefox ??

One word, AWESOME !!
Its like having a mini touch screen down below.

firefox beta sucks now you need 64bit square beta flash player or it freaks out. the old beta's would run in 32 bit mode so the standard flash player would work fine.

Ah thanks, I never knew about that option. While that's a step in the right direction it still isn't as good as FF or Chrome. With those browsers you can have a bunch of tabs open from any folder and save that set to be opened on startup with one click.

Firefox is a dog, especially so on OS X. I don't touch it with a 10 foot pole. FF4 though, is much improved and hopefully will bring it back to the golden days.

Chrome and Safari are both Webkit and both awesome. Use Chrome if you want nerdy customization or use Safari if you want native smoothness.

I tend to stick with Chrome because I use 3 computers often. A PC at work and home, and the Mac at home/travel. I like having sync set up between the 3 so that it's the same experience/addons/etc between the 3 without worrying about it.

I use a mixture of Safari and Chrome. For me, it depends on which one annoys me the least for that day. I do get some lag/beachballing with Safari, but on my machine it does seem a bit more stable than Chrome.

Firefox just runs like a dog. Once you have tried chrome (on any OS but especially OSX) there is just no going back.
