yeap. a friend of mine let his expire for 4 months. then went to get a new TV from tehm. when he found out he was paying for those 4 months he blew a gasket. he yelled at them until he got a new membership.

seems like bullshit thing to do to me. why should you pay for that time if you didnt use it?

edit; also thats not the only reason to dislike costco. they are one of the biggest abusers of Eminent domaine there is. they will get the goverment to condem a property so they can get it cheap. no matter that they displace local business and home owners.

Executive membership gives 2% cashback on top of my AMEX True Earnings. That cashback easily offsets your membership fees.

Plus the savings in unit price already gives you your money back.

if your membership is expired for > 1 month, then you aren't doing it right
middle class families get the most benefit by shopping there often

Costco has cheap diapers

i used sams club. since there was not a costco near me.

But both of them are great. IF you pay attention to what you are buying. Diapers were always a good deal. we would get huge box's of diapers for a good price. but then you have a really big box of diapers heh.

i would say about 50% of the stuff at them are good deals. you just have to watch and pay attention.

Yup, wipes too, and formula. This was initially why we got a Costco membership. The membership has already paid for itself several times just in baby supplies.

I think my wife buys the 230 count box for something like $35 bucks. That price beats anything I've seen by a long shot including Wallyworld.

Do you know what they do to those chickens?

No, but they're delicious.

My costco membership renewal letter said that they only bill you for past months if your membership expired WITHIN 2 months from the renewal date. If you let it lapse for more than 2 months, you aren't billed for past months. This is to prevent people from letting it lapse until their next visit a month from the expiration. Not that I agree with it, but you wouldn't be billed for 5 years past or anything.

Now that my oldest is hitting the teen "eat like livestock" years, it's beginning to be valuable again. I had a membership for a few years and let it expire, recently renewed because i found a kitchen faucet there for $80 that was $180 at Loewes, meaning the membership payed for itself.
I spent two weeks comparing Trader Joe's costs vs Costco and Costco came out on top in enough instances to make it worth it. Though I still shop at both.

You need to know your prices and not fall prey to impulse buys, if you do it's a great bargain.

I still go to Costco every Sunday even if I don't have anything to buy. Some companies are just that good, much like Target.

Only if you don't want to spend anytime bargain hunting. You can usually get better deals elsewhere through the use of coupons and sales for almost everything they sell, with the exception of gas and maybe the meat. Meat is tough unless you are buying for a family.

Though it is almost worth the cost of the membership it if you can walk to one on the weekends to graze the samples.

What are you saying? That it takes a long time to shop at Costco? Yeah maybe if you pick the wrong one and go on a Saturday afternoon sure... I have no problems stopping by at 7pm after work. Quick pit stop.

Sometimes maybe. 36 toilet paper rolls of 2-ply Charmin for $16.99? 30 rolls of Quilted Northern triple-ply for $18? I don't think so. 16 rolls is already $14 at Target on sale. LOL.

If you bargain hunt you have to be willing to jump brand to brand and jump quality. Sometimes you get a good deal for GOOD quality stuff. Othertimes, you get el-cheapo products like you see on Slickdeals. No one who wants a midrange-midperformance and up computer would buy the crappy $5 RAM they have on Slickdeals half the time.

I got a bottle of 365 Kirkland generic Zyrtec for around $15. That's an insane deal. Plus boxes of waffles, corn dogs, and jalapeno poppers are crazy cheap.

$14 at Target? Amateur....

Couple weeks ago:

CVS
$10 16 double roll Charmin Ultra x 3
-$5 off $30 CVS purchase coupon I got from their coupon machine
-$5 off $25 CVS purchase coupon I got from their website
-$0.5 off charmin coupon x3 from the newspaper

$18.5 + I got $10 ECB for buying $25 P&G products (basically a $10 CVS coupon). That is poorly planned BTW, I did several transactions with other products to make it even cheaper.

(Actually, I had another $10 off $20 CVS coupon, but that was a grand opening coupon, so kind of rare).

Just last night I bought a tub of Huggie's wipes from CVS:
$3.50 Huggies wipes
-$2 CVS coupon huggies wipes I got from their coupon machine
-$2 Huggies coupon printed from coupons.com
total was -$0.50 , I MADE $0.50 by buying huggies wipes.

As I said, if you don't like to bargain hunt Costco is a good deal, but you can get just as good or better deals if you hunt.
